The platform is open, who can apply today

The platform opened at noon on Thursday (11.05.2023) for those who want to join the “Recycle – Change Water Heater” program and get a subsidy to replace their solar water heater with a solar one.

Today, the first day of operation of the platform, citizens whose VAT numbers end in 1 and 2 can apply to replace the old energy-consuming electric water heater with a solar one.

In detail, the dates when someone can apply:

Thursday 11.05: VAT numbers ending in 1, 2

Friday 12.05: VAT numbers expiring in 3, 4

Saturday 13.05: VAT numbers expiring in 5, 6

Sunday 14.05: TINs expiring 7, 8

Monday 15.05: VAT numbers expiring 9, 0.

Beneficiaries can apply until Tuesday, June 20 at 15:00, either through gov.gr or through the program platform

The “Recycle – Change Water Heaters” program subsidizes households for the replacement of energy-consuming electric water heaters with new modern technology solar water heaters.

The program includes:

  • Subsidy for the purchase of a new Solar Water Heater of modern technology.
  • Subsidizing the cost of carrying out the necessary additional work to replace the old Electric Water Heater with the new Solar Water Heater (e.g. transportation costs, installation of the New Solar Water Heater or removal of the old Water Heater, consumables & accessories, etc.)
  • The mandatory delivery of the old electric water heater to the retailer from which the new Solar Water Heater is supplied.

Attention:

  • Old Electric Water Heaters with a capacity of at least 40 liters are accepted for replacement.
  • It is not possible to subsidize a new Solar Water Heater without the parallel delivery of the old Electric Water Heater.
  • The grant is provided through Program vouchers, which can be used at approved Program Suppliers and cover part of the total cost of the relevant products/services.

In order to join the program, the beneficiaries must:

  • To be domestic consumers who will have an electric water heater installed in their residence (and not in a business place).
  • Applications must be submitted by individual natural persons, who were born before January 1, 2006 and reside permanently in Greece.
  • Only one application should be submitted by each natural person.
  • The average annual income per family member of the eligible beneficiaries should not exceed 30,000 euros.
  • The potential beneficiaries have not submitted an application or have joined another energy saving program, such as “Execonomou – Autonomou” or “Execonomou 2021”.

Ranking criteria

The final selection of beneficiaries will result from a combination of economic and social criteria:

  • Average annual income per family member.
  • Families with disabled members
  • Single-parent families, with at least one dependent child.
  • Families with dependent members.

Reinforcement height

  • The subsidy is up to 60% of the purchase cost of each new solar water heater.
  • Each beneficiary will receive a voucher, which they can redeem at a supplier of their choice.
  • Installation costs are also included in the maximum grant amount for the beneficiaries.

The final value of each check depends on the characteristics of the solar water heater (hot water tank capacity), its purchase price and is determined as follows:
