Angelina Jolie looks elegant on the red carpet at the premiere of the film Maria at the AFI Film Festival in Los Angeles. The 49-year-old actress appeared in a long nude colored silk dress and black jacket with a scarf. But what’s interesting is his curly hair style.

Jolie usually appears with straight and neatly tied hair, this time showing wavy curly hair with a side part.

Jolie completed her new red carpet look with dangly earrings, bold red lipstick and subtle eye makeup, with a little eyeshadow and black eyeliner. She also matched her manicure to her lipstick, with bright red nails for a statement look on the red carpet.

In this biographical film directed by Pablo Larraín, Jolie plays the legendary opera singer Maria Callas who has died.

According to the synopsis, the film “follows the American-Greek soprano as she retreats to Paris after a glamorous and tumultuous life in the public eye,” following the vocalist “in her final days as the diva confronts her identity and life.”

Callas, renowned for her vocal range spanning three octaves, died in Paris in 1977 of a heart attack at the age of 53. Jolie underwent months of training to play the famous vocalist.

On the red carpet on October 26, Jolie spoke to PEOPLE about how she connected with the character and where she sees parallels between herself and Callas.

“I know there are certain things that people might think of as similarities between us from a distance, but I think what we have in common perhaps is that we share a certain loneliness of doing our jobs where we are the only ones, I don’t know , awake at night, alone, trying to find a solution,” he said.

“I don’t want to talk too much about it because it’s too personal, but there’s definitely loneliness and work ethic.”

“I may be many things, but I’m a hard worker, right? I’m an imperfect person, but I work very hard, and so does he. So I think we see ourselves, I don’t know if he or I will ever see ourselves as something other than performers and workers who have a job to do, and are probably very hard on ourselves,” Jolie continued.

In September, the film received a standing ovation at the New York Film Festival. Ahead of the screening, Jolie walked the red carpet with her three children — Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, and Maddox, 23 — while wearing a white vintage Madame Grès gown acquired from Mon Vintage in Paris.

The Oscar winner also recently appeared at the Toronto Film Festival for a screening of his film, Without Blood.

Jolie, who directed the war drama, looked stunning in a black silk dress from Dolce & Gabbana with ruffled details at the bottom. To add glamour, she wore a pair of opera-style elbow-length silk gloves.

Her long blonde hair was parted in the middle and she wore no jewelry.

Jolie was also accompanied by her 20-year-old son, Pax, who worked on the film in the assistant director’s department. He matched his appearance with his mother by wearing a black suit and tie combined with dark glasses on the red carpet. After the screening, he joined the audience in giving Jolie and the film’s cast a standing ovation. (People/Z-3)
