Asunción, IP Agency.- A day of planting native trees was held in the Bella Vista plaza, located in Hernandarias. Members of the neighborhood commission and students from the Santa Clara School were present at the activity. In total, 200 seedlings of various native species were planted.

Among the trees planted are species such as inga’i, tata jyva, pyta tree, sapirangy, jacarandá, white lapacho and yellow lapacho, reported Itaipu Binacional.

These species, known for their contribution to biodiversity and providing shade, were selected for their ability to adapt to the local environment and for their ornamental value. They are produced in the Entity’s Forest Nursery.

During the event, the importance of caring for the planted specimens was emphasized. The organizers called on students and neighbors to actively get involved in the maintenance of the plants to ensure their development.

“Everything we are planting today is for you, so that in the future you will have a greener and shady plaza, but it is up to each person to take care of these trees,” said Moisés Insfrán, from the Junior International Chamber (JCI) of Hernandarias.

In addition to the support of Itaipu, the municipality of Hernandarias also collaborated in this initiative and it was highlighted that Bella Vista Square was one of the winners of a contest that involved more than 10 recreation spaces in the district. The Binational also built gardens on the site to beautify the site.

The authorities of the Santa Clara School thanked the support provided by the various institutions and highlighted the joint work that allowed the execution of the project.

They mentioned the importance of collaboration between Itaipu teachers, engineers and specialists; who were in charge of selecting and planting the trees.

The event marks the beginning of a long-term effort to maintain Bella Vista Plaza as a green recreational and learning space for the community; especially for students, who will have the responsibility of caring for and preserving the planted species.
