The internal party reshuffle carried out by Nikos Androulakis brought Kostas Tsoukalas to the position of the new press representative of the party.

The lawyer – labor expert, Kostas Tsoukalas, became known to the general public through the interventions he made on news broadcasts, while in June 2024 he was a candidate for the European Parliament of PASOK, a personal choice of his Nikos Androulakis.
In fact, he was one of the executives who supported the party president’s candidacy until the end, in the October internal party elections.
His resume
Kostas Tsoukalas was born and raised in Athens. He comes from Gortynia of Arcadia, Itea of Phocis and Constantinople.
He graduated in 2008 from the Law School of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has been practicing martial law since 2010 when he founded his personal law office and in recent years has handled hundreds of cases of all spectrums of Law. He has specialized in Labor Law, Insurance – Pension Law, as well as Banking Law with a focus on debt settlement (judicial and extrajudicial).
He is a certified lawyer by EFKA in the procedure for issuing pensions. He has been and continues to be a legal advisor to Panhellenic trade unions, federations and primary unions, Professional Chambers, as well as many businesses. From 2014 to 2016 he was a member of the Five-member Arbitration Committee of the EPO for labor cases between coaches and sports clubs. Tighanais is a permanent legal advisor of the General Bank of Greece Staff Mutual Aid Fund.
Since his student years he has developed intense social and trade union activity. He was for many years an elected representative of the students of the Athens Law School.
He is married and the father of three children.
Who is Olga Markogiannakis?
OR Olga Markogiannakis who is now PASOK’s deputy press representative, holds a doctorate in civil engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with a master’s degree (MSc) from Columbia University, New York.
He was born and raised in Kozani, originally from Crete. She is married and has two children.
According to newsit, he has significant national and international research experience in structural safety, prevention and response to infrastructure impacts related to climate change and natural disasters.
She has written and published numerous research papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and international conferences, while she is an evaluator of the European Marie Curie actions. During her professional career she has taught in undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the University of Western Macedonia, the University of Thessaly and the International University.

Interview with Kostas Tsoukalas, New Press Representative of PASOK

Kostas Tsoukalas: Thank you! It’s an honor to serve in this capacity. I’m excited about the opportunity to contribute to PASOK’s communication strategy, especially at such a pivotal time for the party.
Interviewer: You’ve had a diverse background in law and labor issues before stepping into this role. How do you think your previous experiences will influence your work as a press representative?
Kostas Tsoukalas: My legal background, particularly in labor law, has equipped me with valuable insights into both the challenges and the opportunities that individuals and businesses face. I believe this perspective will help me communicate our party’s positions more effectively and resonate with a broader audience.
Interviewer: You were known for your public interventions in news broadcasts. How do you plan to leverage media to advance PASOK’s agenda?
Kostas Tsoukalas: Media is a powerful tool for reaching the public. I plan to engage actively with journalists, ensuring that our messages are clear and accessible. By fostering good relationships and being transparent, I hope to effectively relay PASOK’s vision and policies to the electorate.
Interviewer: You were a candidate for the European Parliament and supported Nikos Androulakis in the internal party elections. How important is party unity to you in your new role?
Kostas Tsoukalas: Party unity is crucial. A cohesive message strengthens our overall position. I intend to work closely with both the leadership and members to ensure that our communication reflects a united front. This will reinforce the trust we aim to build with the public.

Kostas Tsoukalas: My main goals are to enhance our media outreach, ensure timely and accurate dissemination of our policies, and engage in constructive dialogue with the public and media. I also want to focus on addressing social issues that matter to people, showcasing how PASOK intends to tackle them.
