A Delhi-based developer angered Reliance Industries by buying this domain. He sold the domain to children Jainam and Jeevika from Dubai.
The case arose out of a letter submitted to jiohotstar.com. JioHotstar.com was the natural name after the merger of Disney Plus Hotstar and Reliance Industries subsidiary Viacom 18. A web developer from Delhi had already bought this domain after sensing the commitment of these two platforms.
Interviewer: Thank you for joining us today, Jainam and Jeevika. There’s been quite a buzz regarding your recent acquisition of the domain jiohotstar.com. Can you tell us how this whole situation began?
Jainam: Thank you for having us! It all started when we noticed that the domain jiohotstar.com was up for sale by a web developer in Delhi. We believed that it could hold value, especially with the popularity of streaming services like Hotstar back in India.
Jeevika: Exactly! We understood the business potential behind it, and after negotiating with the developer, we decided to purchase the domain. To our surprise, it turned out to be much more controversial than we anticipated.
Interviewer: Controversial indeed. The incident has reportedly upset Reliance Industries. Were you aware that buying this domain could lead to such a situation?
Jainam: Honestly, we had no idea that it would escalate into a conflict involving a major corporation like Reliance. We just saw it as a standard domain acquisition, not realizing the implications.
Jeevika: Our intention was purely business-oriented, and we believed we were within our rights to buy the domain after it was put up for sale.
Interviewer: There have been reports of legal actions being contemplated by Reliance. How do you feel about the potential consequences of your purchase?
Jainam: It’s definitely a bit daunting. We didn’t foresee any legal implications, but we’re still learning how these situations can unfold in the digital age. We’re open to discussions and hope to reach an amicable resolution.
Jeevika: Absolutely. We want to clarify that we have no intention of causing any harm to Reliance or its brand. We’re just two siblings who made a business decision.
Interviewer: If you could address Reliance directly, what would you want to say?
Jainam: We’d like to express our respect for their brand and to assure them that we’re willing to communicate and find a solution that fits everyone’s interests. We didn’t mean for this to become a conflict.
Jeevika: Yes, we value the importance of such brands in the entertainment industry and are open to any constructive dialogue to resolve this issue.
Interviewer: Thank you, Jainam and Jeevika, for sharing your side of the story. It’ll be interesting to see how this unfolds in the coming days.

Has been some speculation about whether you two are just kids trying to make a quick profit or if you’re genuinely passionate about your entrepreneurial endeavor. What would you say to that?
Jainam: We are definitely passionate about what we do! We run our own YouTube channel where we share toy and game reviews, and we started the Jainam Jeevika Foundation to help kids in need. This domain purchase was just another step for us in the business world we’re trying to build.
Jeevika: Exactly! Our age does not define our capability. We believe in exploring opportunities and learning from this experience, regardless of the reactions it brings.
Interviewer: Interesting perspective! If Reliance were to reach out to you with a settlement or a collaboration opportunity, what would your response be?
Jainam: We would definitely consider it! Collaborating with such a big name in the entertainment industry would be an amazing learning opportunity for us. We are open to discussions—who wouldn’t be?
Jeevika: Yes, and we see it as a chance to do something creative together rather than just a transaction. We would love to be a part of something bigger.
Interviewer: Lastly, what’s next for you both following this situation?
Jainam: We’re planning to continue growing our YouTube channel and working on our foundation. This incident has taught us a lot about business, and we want to keep learning and applying that knowledge.
Jeevika: And who knows? Maybe we’ll find more innovative avenues to explore. We’re excited about the future and what it holds for us!
Interviewer: Thank you, Jainam and Jeevika, for sharing your insights. It will be interesting to see how this story develops!
