RB Leipzig extended the best start in its young club history and took the lead in the German Bundesliga with a win in the top game against Freiburg. The Saxons prevailed against the third team 3-1 despite being behind at the break. Borussia Dortmund lost 2-1 in Augsburg four days after losing 5-2 to Real Madrid.
VfB Stuttgart saved a 2-1 win against Kiel over time. St. Pauli and Wolfsburg played a goalless game. The newcomer from Hamburg is still without a goal at the Millerntor at home. Wolfsburg and coach Ralph Hasenhüttl could slip to 15th place with eight points after eight rounds.
With 20 points, Leipzig currently leads the table, three points ahead of Bayern Munich. The record champions will be guests at Latest Bochum on Sunday. The Bulls only turned up the heat against Freiburg (15) after a slow first half.

Augsburg turned the game around thanks to Alexis Claude-Maurice (25th, 50th). Nuri Sahin’s team is already under pressure in the second round of the Cup in Wolfsburg. Before the Champions League home game against Sturm Graz (November 5th), BVB will host Leipzig.
Stuttgart also beat Kiel 2-0 with a slight Champions League rotation. The Swabians improved to eighth place thanks to Deniz Undav (19th) and El Bilal Toure (61st). Newly promoted Kiel led by Benedikt Pichler (up to the 46th) came close after a yellow-red card for Stuttgart’s Julian Chabot (66th). Armin Gigovic ensured a hot final phase (84th), in which Kiel’s Jann-Fiete Arp also saw yellow-red (88th).
