Trump is running “to become an American tyrant,” said Springsteen at a Harris campaign appearance in Atlanta, in the hotly contested state of Georgia. The Republican doesn’t understand the country – or what it means to be an American.

Springsteen said he is supporting Democrat Harris because he wants to see a person in the White House who respects the Constitution and wants to build a middle-class economy. The rock star also sang several songs with acoustic guitar for the audience.

In Georgia there are 16 electoral votes at stake. Four years ago, President Joe Biden won against Trump there. Editor: ⁢ Today,⁤ we ⁢have the legendary musician Bruce Springsteen with us, who recently made headlines for his passionate endorsement of Kamala Harris ‌during a campaign appearance in⁣ Atlanta. ⁣Bruce, thank you for joining us.

Springsteen: Thanks for having me.

Editor: At ‌this⁤ event, you ⁣made some striking ⁣comments about⁢ Donald Trump. You described his campaign as an attempt to‌ become “an American tyrant.” Can you elaborate on what you meant⁢ by⁤ that?

Springsteen: Absolutely. I ‌believe that Trump fundamentally misunderstands what it means to be ‍an American and what the‌ Constitution represents. His actions and rhetoric seem‌ to promote division and ‍undermine our democratic values. We need leaders who will unite us and uphold ‍the principles that make our country great.

Editor: You also mentioned your support for Kamala Harris. What specifically do you think she brings to the table that is different from the current⁣ administration?

Springsteen: Kamala Harris understands the struggles of the middle class and genuinely wants to build an economy that works ‍for everyone, not just the wealthy‍ elite. She respects⁤ the Constitution and the rule⁣ of law, and I believe she will restore integrity to the office of the⁢ presidency.

Editor: ‌ Alongside your ⁣speech, you performed several songs for the audience. How important⁣ is music ⁤to your message of ‌political engagement?

Springsteen: Music has always⁢ been a powerful form ⁤of expression and a means to bring people together. It can inspire action and provoke thought. During times⁣ like these, it’s essential to use every⁤ tool at our disposal to encourage people to get involved and make their voices heard.

Editor: At this event, you made some striking comments about Donald Trump, describing his campaign as an attempt to become “an American tyrant.” Can you elaborate on what you meant by that?

Springsteen: Absolutely. When I say “American tyrant,” I’m referring to a sense of authoritarianism that seems to be creeping into our political landscape. Trump’s approach tends to undermine the foundational principles of democracy and the Constitution that define what it means to be an American. He doesn’t seem to grasp the importance of unity, respect, and looking out for the middle class.

Editor: You mentioned that you support Kamala Harris because you believe she respects the Constitution and aims to build a middle-class economy. Why do you think that’s crucial in this election?

Springsteen: It’s crucial because a strong economy is built on the wellbeing of ordinary Americans. Harris understands that. She knows we need policies that uplift the middle class, not just the wealthy. We are at a pivotal moment in our history, and having a leader who values democratic principles and is truly connected to the people is essential for moving forward as a nation.

Editor: You also entertained the crowd with some songs during the event. How do you see music playing a role in political and social movements?

Springsteen: Music has always been a powerful form of expression. It can inspire, unite, and motivate individuals to take action. During times like these, music can help articulate feelings of hope and resistance. My goal is to use my platform to encourage people to participate, to vote, and to stand up for what they believe in.

Editor: Georgia is a key state in this election. How do you see the landscape shaping up as we approach November 5th?

Springsteen: Georgia is critical—it’s a state that could swing the election either way. The polls are tight, and it’s going to take a concerted effort from everyone who believes in democracy to get out there, make their voices heard, and ensure that we choose a leader who stands for all Americans, not just a select few.

Editor: Thank you, Bruce, for sharing your insights. Your passion for the issues and commitment to making a difference is truly inspiring.

Springsteen: Thank you for having me. It’s a crucial time, and we all need to be engaged!
