Head of Yogyakarta City Satpol PP Octo Noor Arafat explained that this APK control operation involved as many as 100 personnel and supporters from the National Police. “This APK control is a follow-up to a request from the General Election Commission (KPU) based on recommendations from the Yogyakarta City Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu),” he explained at the APK Control Operation Call at the Yogyakarta City Hall Square, Wednesday (23/10).

He explained that the APK control was carried out by referring to the Yogyakarta City Mayor’s Regulation (Perwal) Number 75 of 2023 concerning APK and Campaign Materials for the Election and Election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor, as well as Yogyakarta City Regulation Number 65 of 2024 concerning Amendments to Yogyakarta City Perwal number 75 in 2023.

APK control is divided into regions, namely the northern and southern areas of Yogyakarta City. “APKs that are being disciplined are those whose installation violates the rules, such as on electricity poles, traffic signs, road boards and trees,” he explained.

Controlling APKs in the regions, he continued, was assisted by a fleet of tank cars for each kemantren together with BKO Satpol PP, Satlinmas, and the District Election Supervisory Committee (Panwascam).

Chairman of the Yogyakarta City Bawaslu, Andie Kartala, said that there were around 547 APKs that would be controlled, from those in the form of rontek, banners, banners and billboards. The APK was installed in prohibited places, including the philosophy axis area. “Controlling this APK is a shared responsibility to keep the city of Yogyakarta comfortable and orderly,” he explained.

APKs that have been controlled cannot be taken back by the candidate team and will be stored in the KPU warehouse on Jalan Sultan Agung. Next, the KPU will process it.

His party stated that they had carried out massive outreach to teams and candidate pairs. “The hope is that we can all work together to comply with existing regulations,” he explained.

After this, the party will also provide suggestions and improvements to the candidate team in writing, so that the APK installation is carried out in accordance with applicable regulations. (N-2)
