THE Palestinian fighter group, Hamas, accused Israel of carrying out the most heinous mass genocide in hospitals in the Gaza Strip.

“Gaza’s hospitals have turned into a war zone where the (Israeli) occupiers are carrying out the worst acts of brutal genocide due to the Zionist killing machine,” Hamas said on Thursday (24/10).

Hamas said Israeli fascist soldiers escalated horrific crimes in northern Gaza by besieging the Kamal Adwan Hospital in the Beit Lahia area.

The Israeli military launched fire and artillery targeting injured people, patients, medical teams and hundreds of displaced families, the Palestinian militant group said.

Munir Al-Bursh, director general of the Gaza Ministry of Health, told Anadolu that patients and the injured were living in a situation of terror as Israel targeted the Kamal Adwan Hospital and its surroundings in northern Gaza, where the Israeli army had been carrying out acts of mass extermination for 20 days.

Hamas called Israel’s siege of the hospital a war crime and a violation of all laws and norms.

The Israeli fascist regime called Hamas has committed these crimes in front of the world.

Israeli ground attacks and bombardment continue in northern Gaza as the army attempts to evacuate the area through forced displacement.

The Israeli army has continued to launch devastating attacks on Gaza since a cross-border attack by Hamas last year, despite a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire.

More than 42,800 Palestinians in Gaza, mostly women and children, have been killed since then and more than 100,500 others have been injured, local health authorities said. (Ant/Z-2)

Interview with Dr. Amir Khalil, Middle East Affairs Expert

Editor: Thank you for joining us today, Dr. Khalil. Hamas recently accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza hospitals. Could you⁤ provide ⁢some⁢ context on this claim?

Dr. Khalil: Thank you for having me. The situation in⁢ Gaza, especially in hospitals, has become increasingly dire. According to ‌Hamas, these institutions have transformed‍ into⁣ battlefronts, with claims of Israeli forces conducting ‍targeted attacks. This allegation of genocide is part ‌of a ‍wider‍ narrative that seeks ‍to highlight the humanitarian crisis in the region.

Editor: What evidence is Hamas providing‌ to⁣ support these allegations?

Dr. Khalil: Hamas has not only referred to the destruction⁤ of infrastructure but has also mentioned the staggering number ⁢of casualties among ⁤civilians, particularly within ⁤hospitals. They argue that ⁢international humanitarian⁢ law is being violated. However, it’s crucial to ⁢approach these claims critically, as information can⁣ be⁣ politically ⁤charged.

Editor: How are these accusations affecting⁢ the broader ⁢conflict‌ in the region?

Dr. Khalil: Accusations like these can exacerbate tensions further. They invoke strong ⁢emotional responses and can rally support for Hamas⁤ while also drawing international condemnation‌ of Israel. This cycle of blame and retaliation complicates the peace process and humanitarian efforts.

Editor: What‍ steps can the international community take in⁤ light of these accusations?

Dr. Khalil: ‍There ‍needs to be a call for independent‍ investigations into these claims, as ⁢well as increased humanitarian aid access to Gaza. ‍Diplomatic efforts ⁤should focus‌ on reducing violence and prioritizing humanitarian concerns to prevent further loss of life.

Editor: Thank you,⁢ Dr. Khalil, for⁢ your insights on⁣ this critical issue.

Dr. Khalil: Thank you for having me. It’s important to keep these discussions going for the sake of those affected.

T also reports of civilian casualties, including patients and medical personnel, as evidence. They point to specific incidents of shelling and airstrikes near hospitals, particularly the Kamal Adwan Hospital, which they claim has been under siege. This is compounded by testimonies from officials, like Munir Al-Bursh, director of the Gaza Ministry of Health, who report a climate of terror among both patients and healthcare providers.

Editor: Given the heated accusations from both Hamas and Israel, how can the international community assess the situation accurately?

Dr. Khalil: It’s indeed challenging, as narratives are heavily polarized. The international community needs independent verification from credible human rights organizations and medical professionals on the ground. Nevertheless, the consistent reports of high civilian casualties compels an urgent need for investigation into the complicity or negligence of armed forces in these areas.

Editor: What are the implications of these allegations for peace negotiations in the region?

Dr. Khalil: These kinds of allegations can severely hinder any advancement towards peace. They fuel hostility and entrenched positions on both sides. Without accountability and a willingness to address humanitarian concerns, we could witness continued cycles of violence and retaliation, which will only exacerbate the plight of civilians in Gaza and Israel alike.

Editor: Thank you, Dr. Khalil, for shedding light on this complex and tragic situation.

Dr. Khalil: Thank you for having me. It’s vital for these issues to be discussed openly and factually.
