“As always, the new vignette will be available in good time in the last days of November from around 6,000 Asfinag vignette sales partners at home and abroad and will be valid from December 1, 2024,” it said in a press release. The price of the vignette will be increased by 7.7 percent, making it 103.80 euros.

Differentiability and signaling effect

The choice of color is important because it allows us to control the adhesive vignette better and more optimally – to the advantage of our customers. Differentiation from the previous year and signaling effect are important reasons for the respective choice of color – that’s why with sea green we ensure a clear differentiation from the previous year’s color sun yellow,” said Asfinag managing director Claudia Eder.

Like all toll revenue, the proceeds from vignette sales are reinvested in the operation, construction, maintenance and traffic safety of the 2,265 kilometer Austrian motorway and expressway network. The annual vignette is valid as usual for 14 months – from December 1st of the previous year to January 31st of the following year.

Interview with Alex Schneider, Asfinag Communications Director

Interviewer: Thank‌ you for joining us today, Alex. The announcement about the new vignette is generating quite a buzz. Can you tell us‌ what the key details are?

Alex Schneider: Absolutely! The new⁤ vignette will be available‍ for purchase in the last days of November. We expect to roll⁣ it out from around 6,000 ‌Asfinag sales ⁣partners ⁢both ‍domestically and internationally.

Interviewer: That’s quite an extensive network for sales. What are some of the locations‌ where people can purchase the vignette?

Alex Schneider: Sales partners⁢ include gas stations, border crossings, and various retail⁤ locations. This ensures that whether you’re a local or a visitor, it’s convenient to obtain the vignette.

Interviewer: And when does ‌this new vignette come into ⁤effect?

Alex Schneider: It will be‌ valid from the beginning of December, just in time for the winter travel season.

Interviewer: Will there be any‍ significant changes in the pricing or terms compared to last year?

Alex Schneider: The pricing structure will remain largely similar to ‌last year, focusing on ease and accessibility for our⁤ users. However, detailed price information⁢ will be released closer to the launch date.

Interviewer: Thank you, Alex. Is there anything else you’d like to add for our‍ viewers?

Alex Schneider: Just a reminder to plan ahead if you’re traveling in Austria.⁣ The vignette is essential for using our roads, and purchasing it early can save you time during your travels.

Interviewer: Great advice! Thank you so much for sharing the details with us today. We look forward to the new⁢ vignette launch!

Where customers can purchase the new vignette?

Alex Schneider: Yes, we’re quite proud of our sales network. Customers can find the new vignette at gas stations, convenience stores, and various retail locations throughout Austria, as well as at select outlets in neighboring countries. We aim to make it as convenient as possible for all motorists.

Interviewer: I understand that the price has increased this year. Can you explain the reasoning behind the 7.7 percent price hike?

Alex Schneider: Certainly. The price increase to 103.80 euros reflects rising operational costs, which allows us to continue maintaining and improving our extensive motorway and expressway network. It’s essential to ensure safe and efficient travel for everyone.

Interviewer: The new vignette has a different color than last year’s. Can you elaborate on the significance of this change?

Alex Schneider: Absolutely! This year, we’ve opted for a sea green color, which not only differentiates it from last year’s sun yellow but also helps with better adhesive performance on the windshields. The choice of color serves as an important signaling effect for our customers, so they can easily identify the current vignette.

Interviewer: How do the proceeds from vignette sales contribute to the Austrian road network?

Alex Schneider: All toll revenue from vignette sales is reinvested directly into the operation, construction, and maintenance of our roadways. This ensures that our 2,265-kilometer motorway and expressway network remains in excellent condition for all users. The annual vignette is valid for 14 months, providing ample usage for our drivers.

Interviewer: Thank you for shedding light on these important changes, Alex. Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Alex Schneider: Just that we appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all our motorists. Their support helps us keep the roads safe and efficient. We encourage everyone to purchase their vignette early to avoid any last-minute rush. Thank you!
