An island of greenery on the port
It has been three years since the services of the Department and urban planners are working on the project « of convivial public space » between the Planète Océan brewery and the careening area. Formerly there was the former headquarters of the Etaplo Maritime Cooperative (CME). Today, it is a car park and a continuation of the green space of the Sailors’ Calvary. In a year and a half, this 7,000 m site2 will take the form of a wooded park, with a central square, paths, a fountain, benches, stalls, etc.
A link between the city and the port
« We thought of the places as a link between the city and the portexplains Mireille Hingrez-Céréda, vice-president of the Department in charge of maritime issues. It will be an island of greenery in a still very mineral place where families can come and relax. There will be squares where small cultural shows can be held. If we walk around, we can imagine wanting to eat a waffle or a pancake, it is with this in mind that we also create small shops. »
Pétanque courts and parking
Regulars of pétanque courts can be reassured, they will be able to continue to indulge in their pastime on new lands. Three are planned. There will also always be parking spaces. A little less than currently. The parking lot will have a draining surface. But that’s the point of history in welcoming fewer sucker cars to the port.
A thirteen-month project
A first site meeting must be held on November 5 on the site. “ Then, there will be thirteen months of workexplains Stéphane Bourgeois, manager of the departmental port. Delivery will take place in the first quarter of 2026. Two lots have been allocated: one to BLD Waterdesign a design office specializing in fountainwork and the second to Idverdea leading landscape company in Europe. » The cost of the project is estimated at 1.8 million euros.
Work in front of the marina
Currently, the pedestrian path in front of the marina is closed. The wooden decking is in very poor condition. “ It must be replaced every ten years.believes Stéphane Bourgeois. We decided to stop using this coating which degrades quickly. We are going to put concrete with a gravel appearance instead. We will also install a white thermo-lacquered steel guardrail, identical to that of the promenade on stilts. » This project, scheduled for November and lasting ten weeks, has a cost of €100,000.

Interview with Mireille Hingrez-Céréda about the New Green Space at Montreuil Port
Editor: Thank you, Mireille Hingrez-Céréda, for joining us today to discuss this exciting project transforming the port area in Montreuil. Can you start by giving us an overview of the project?
Mireille Hingrez-Céréda: Thank you for having me. It’s a pleasure to be here. This project, which has been in development for three years, aims to create a “convivial public space” between the Planète Océan brewery and the careening area. We’re transforming a former car park into a 7,000 square meter wooded park featuring a central square, pathways, seating areas, and small shops. This will become an island of greenery in a very urban environment.
Editor: That sounds wonderful! What inspired the design of this space?
Mireille Hingrez-Céréda: We envisioned this space as a vital link between the city and the port. It will serve as a relaxing retreat for families, providing areas where small cultural events can be held. We want to encourage community gatherings—maybe enjoying a waffle or a pancake at one of the small stalls. The idea is to blend leisure with local culture.
Editor: You mentioned cultural events. What kind of activities do you foresee taking place in this new area?
Mireille Hingrez-Céréda: Absolutely! We envision small performances and shows in designated squares, providing a platform for local artists and cultural expressions. It’s essential that this space not just be green, but also vibrant and alive with the community’s spirit.
Editor: What about amenities? Will there be any facilities for activities such as pétanque?
Mireille Hingrez-Céréda: Yes! We’re ensuring that regular pétanque enthusiasts can continue their games. We’ll include three pétanque courts in the design. While there will be slightly fewer parking spaces compared to the current setup, we are implementing a draining surface to manage water runoff effectively. Our goal is to reduce car presence to encourage a more pedestrian-friendly environment.
Editor: When is this project expected to be completed?
Mireille Hingrez-Céréda: We’re looking at a timeline of about thirteen months for the entire project to unfold. We anticipate that residents and visitors will be able to enjoy this new green space next year!
Editor: Thank you, Mireille, for sharing these details. It sounds like Montreuil is set to gain a fantastic new asset that fosters community and connection to nature.
Mireille Hingrez-Céréda: Thank you for having me. We’re very excited to bring this vision to life and contribute positively to Montreuil’s landscape!
The project aims to transform a former car park between the Planète Océan brewery and the careening area in Montreuil into a 7,000 square meter wooded park. Set to take shape in about a year and a half, the park will feature a central square, walking paths, a fountain, benches, and small shops, creating a vibrant public space that bridges the city and the port.
Mireille Hingrez-Céréda, the vice-president of the Department responsible for maritime issues, emphasizes the park’s role as an “island of greenery” in a largely urban setting, where families can relax and enjoy cultural events. Plans include areas for small performances, fostering community engagement and local culture.
Despite a slight reduction in parking spaces, the development will still accommodate regulars of pétanque courts, which will find new locations within the park. The project is set to take 13 months, commencing with a meeting on November 5, and an anticipated delivery in early 2026, with an estimated cost of €1.8 million.
In tandem, improvements will also be made to enhance the pedestrian path in front of the marina, replacing old wooden decking with a more durable concrete structure, costing €100,000. these initiatives aim to beautify the port area and provide a welcoming space for both locals and visitors.
