The Islamabad High Court on Thursday directed the authorities of Adiala Jail to bring Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan to the court and meet his lawyers by three o’clock this afternoon.

Today, during the hearing on PTI’s request regarding the ban on meeting Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, the State Council said that the Punjab government has banned meetings in the jail based on the law and order situation.

On this, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan asked whether the meetings of lawyers are also banned.

During the hearing, the petitioner said that since October 3, lawyers are not being allowed to meet Imran Khan. PTI’s lawyer Shoaib Shaheen Advocate said that if we had gone to jail, would there have been any security concerns for us?

Justice Sardar said that if the Punjab government has stopped the meeting of lawyers, it is contempt of court.

He said that many letters are written related to security concerns, but if these letters are not based on real concerns, what will be the result?

He said, “I will ask those who wrote this letter to put their hands on the Qur’an and give an affidavit. Is this really the position?”

He ordered the superintendent of Adiala Jail to make security arrangements and bring Imran Khan to the court, if this does not happen, he will summon him to the court tomorrow and ask for an explanation as to why the order was not followed.

Addressing the jail superintendent, he said, ‘I know you will not implement my order.’

He further told the Jail Superintendent that if he will cause security concerns then he will have to satisfy the court about it.
