After six defeats in a row against the German soccer record champions, the Catalans won 4-1 (3-1) at home on Wednesday. Inter’s Marko Arnautovic missed a penalty during the away game in Bern, but his “Nerazzurri” were still able to celebrate a late victory. The top English clubs Manchester City and Liverpool also celebrated victories.

In Barcelona’s Olympic Stadium – the Camp Nou is being renovated – the home team got off to a lightning start. Captain Raphinha scored the earliest goal conceded in Bayern’s CL history after less than 60 seconds. They tried to provide a quick response. First, a goal from Harry Kane was disallowed due to an offside position after a VAR study, minutes later the Englishman equalized with a remarkable direct pass (18th).

The goalscorer also struck on the other side. Robert Lewandowski scored against his former club to take the lead again. The Brazilian Raphinha extended this with two more goals (45th, 56th). Konrad Laimer came on as a substitute for Bayern in the 85th minute. Munich only have three points in the league phase, Barcelona have six.

Arnautovic had a used evening with the Young Boys from Bern. Shortly after the break, the 35-year-old was denied by the hosts’ keeper with a weak penalty. After an hour, the otherwise pale ÖFB legionnaire was replaced. Marcus Thuram secured Inter’s victory in stoppage time. Gernot Trauner and Feyenoord Rotterdam celebrated a 3-1 away win at Benfica Lisbon. A goal by the ÖFB defender was disallowed due to an offside position.
