The Consulate General of Spain in Havana has issued several statements informing about changes in its attention to the public due to the current energy crisis.
In a Notice published on October 21, 2024, the Consulate explained that, as of that day and until further notice, the offices located in the Lonja del Comercio will remain closed, which has forced the cancellation of appointments scheduled for nationality and passport procedures.
However, the offices of the Velasco Palace, which are next to the Spanish Embassy, will remain operational. In this space, procedures related to visas, marriages, notaries and legalizations will continue to be attended to.
The Consulate assured that people affected by the cancellation of their appointments at the Lonja del Comercio will be contacted to reschedule their appointments as soon as possible.

On Tuesday, October 22, the Consulate will operate during limited hours, until 12 noon, at both headquarters, the Lonja del Comercio and the Velasco Palace.
Only people who have an appointment for that day at the Lonja will be attended to, although for procedures related to the Democratic Memory Law and other nationality matters, those who missed their appointment on the 21st may also attend.
The Consulate has warned that, due to the energy emergency, there could be additional changes in the provision of consular services. These changes would be announced through their official channels, so users are recommended to stay tuned for new communications.
This situation affects many Spanish citizens and residents in Cuba who depend on the services of the Consulate for various procedures.
