The force intends to carry out at least three different activities with the help of EU partners – assessment of the country’s cyber security vulnerabilities, capacity building and testing and approval of the multifunctional cyber security toolkit prepared by the consortium CYBER4DE led by Lithuanian companies.

September 28 The annual meeting of the Lithuanian-led cyber rapid response forces created within the framework of the EU Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) took place at the Ministry of National Defense. Preparations for the sixth rotation of the project, which will be led by Lithuania in 2024, were discussed. This year, Croatia is leading the capacity rotation.

“Cooperation in the field of cyber security is extremely important, and the close and highly effective partnership of CRRT members, which has been going on for five years, has led to this being one of the leading projects of PESCO. I hope that the CRRT will maintain its impact and visibility in 2024 as well”, said Vice Minister of National Defense Greta Monika Tučkutė while congratulating CRRT members in Vilnius.

In 2023, Belgium, Slovenia and Denmark became full members of the project. Currently, the CRRT consists of 14-16 cyber security experts who have been delegated at the national level by Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Croatia, Lithuania, Poland, the Netherlands, Romania, and Slovenia. Three other countries are interested in the possibility of joining the project and are evaluating their possibilities.

The EU Cyber Rapid Response Team created in 2018 can offer assistance in managing cyber incidents or prevention (vulnerability assessment, election monitoring, etc.). In recent years, CRRT’s capacity has been successfully tested in support of partner countries such as Ukraine and Moldova, as well as the European Union’s military training mission in Mozambique.
