This is the second letter from the former official in Felipe Calderón’s six-year term released after being found guilty of five crimes related to organized crime.

In a new letter written by García Luna asking for clemency when ruling against him, the former Mexican secretary pointed out the government of the former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador of having ties to drug trafficking.
García Luna refers to AMLO as the “current President of Mexico”, although he left office on October 1st.
“It is public knowledge and is in the official records of Mexico and the United States, the contacts, videos, audios, photographs, communication and management records between the current President of Mexico and his operators with the drug trafficking leaders and their families,” he wrote. .
The former secretary particularly accused the drug traffickers who testified against him during the trial.
“These facts are corroborated with the recent capture of drug trafficker Ismael Zambada ‘Mayo Zambada’ [sic]the letter issued by him, where he points out the links of the current Government with him and drug trafficking.”
Furthermore, he accused that during the trial “not a single piece of evidence” was presented against him.

García was found guilty of all the charges against him, related to drug trafficking, organized crime and false testimony before the US authorities last February.
In the letter released this Tuesday, he reiterated his political career and stated that he was the “Mexican with the most recognitions and decorations” in Mexico, USA y Europa.
García Luna accuses AMLO of dismantling the Judiciary
In the same letter, García Luna accused López Obrador of “dismantling” the Judiciary with the reform approved before the end of his government.
The former official accused Morena of trying to imprison opponents through reform of the Judiciary.
“My country is suffering a great upheaval; by order of the current president of Mexico, the country’s Judiciary has just been dismantled,” he wrote.
“They seek to imprison those of us who fight their political allies linked to drug trafficking, Mexico is entering a very dangerous stage.”

Tomorrow, October 16, the sentencing hearing will be held against the former secretary after being found guilty of several charges of conspiracy to traffic drugs with the Sinaloa Cartel.
