The movement team in the House of Representatives denounced the widespread spread of electronic cigarettes in the national market, despite the health risks they pose.
In a written question addressed to the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khaled Ait Taleb, the team revealed that the absence of legal texts that prevent the promotion and advertising of these products has encouraged some parties to exploit this loophole to intensively promote electronic cigarettes, especially among young people, which exposes them to the risk of addiction and serious health problems. .
In its question, signed by its head, Idris Al-Santisi, the team explained that the legislative vacuum led to some parties exploiting this loophole to promote electronic cigarettes, including through the media and social media, which exposes young people in particular to the risk of addiction and health problems.
Accordingly, Al-Santisi called on the government to take urgent measures to close the legal loopholes, regulate the sale and marketing of electronic cigarettes, and ban the advertising of them in all media outlets. He also called for strengthening awareness campaigns about the harms of these products, especially among young people.
On the other hand, the head of the movement team in the House of Representatives asked about the measures that the Ministry of Health and Social Protection intends to take to fill the legal loopholes related to the promotion and advertising of electronic cigarettes, as well as the measures that the Ministry is currently taking to monitor and control the unregulated promotion of these products that pose a threat to public health.
