The Cherry on Top: Aurea Technologies Inc.

Fostering competitive, sustainable and inclusive economic growth stimulates regional wealth and improves the quality of life of Atlantic Canadians. The Government of Canada will invest a total amount of 6 482 012 dollars to help Dartmouth’s small and medium-sized businesses innovate, modernize and become more efficient.

The following six companies receive repayable contributions under the Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (CERI) program.

A contribution of $3,000,000 will allow Farnell Packaging Incorporated to purchase and install automated processing and printing equipment to support its expansion projects. This will enable the company, which offers flexible packaging solutions to several industries and sectors, to increase its production, ensure operational efficiency, explore new opportunities in export markets and develop point of new sustainable and ecological packaging solutions.

Ring Rescue Incorporated receives a contribution of $950,000 to expand its suite of next-generation devices. This contribution will accelerate its growth in North America and support the company’s entry into new European markets, further realizing its goal of becoming the global standard of care.

A contribution of $800,000 will allow Sunrise Foods Incorporated to purchase dry storage and automated processing equipment to improve its operational efficiency and increase its production capacity. Sunrise Foods currently makes private label snacks like cheese and crackers. This project will allow Sunrise Foods to explore new export markets and new product lines.

Sunsel Systems Manufacturing Corporation (Sunsel) will use a contribution of $750,000 to purchase advanced manufacturing equipment to increase its production and productivity and improve its quality control measures. The electronic manufacturing services company uses cutting-edge technology to provide customized solutions for the design and marketing of equipment manufacturers’ products. These improvements will enable Sunsel to meet customer demand, increase sales, reduce waste and expand into new markets.

Ace Machining Limited will receive a contribution of $612,330 to purchase advanced manufacturing technology and hire a production manager with specialized skills to increase its efficiency, productivity and competitiveness. Ace Machining offers waterjet machining, fabrication, welding and cutting, both manual and CNC, to various customers throughout North America. This project will allow the company to expand to meet increased demand.

A contribution of $270,000 will allow HFX Steel Framing Solutions Inc. to purchase equipment to produce heavy steel frames for high-rise buildings. HFX Steel manufactures and assembles light gauge steel structures in its factory and ships these prefabricated products to its customers, allowing them to build homes faster than traditional methods. The new cutting-edge technology will enable HFX Steel to significantly increase efficiency, reduce costs and expand markets.

The following business receives a non-repayable contribution through the Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (CERI) program.

Aurea Technologies Inc. receives a contribution of $99,682 to develop its next generation wind turbine. Aurea specializes in the design and production of highly efficient personal renewable energy systems. This project will help Aurea explore how its current products can be further developed for use in the field to support the loading of larger technologies, positioning the company for entry into new markets.
