The Special Vocational Education and Training Laboratory of Kissamos, located in Koutoufiana, started the school term with only five staff members and operates to this day, with the result that its students are at school for a minimum of hours, in relation to the curriculum.
According to his information Eleftherostypos.gr, from the E.E.E.EK. Kissamos has been missing two Art and Music teachers since the beginning of the school term, while in the scientific staff there are shortages in the positions of the Psychologist, the Physiotherapist, the Occupational Therapist and the Blind-Deaf. There are also gaps in the special support staff, with the result that a total of seven people are missing.
At the same time, due to the few people, the breaks are not satisfactorily covered, so the shifts are carried out with two people in the school yard, one person inside the main building and with 10 students who need extra attention.
Yet, the small number of staff forces teachers to keep short hours, for fear of someone being absent.
The school is divided into five sections, four of which have pupils who need more care. Thus, the academic staff, the social worker, the school nurse and the speech therapist take over classes, rather than doing individual therapy sessions.

Also, the school operates without a Director, as a result of which they have put in this position, the Deputy Director, who has been left there without any help. Everyone is desperate, the parents are outraged that their children come home so early and without having done the basic things of their daily life.”
End, Mr. Glabedakis added that several documents on the matter in question have also been sent to the Head of the Directorate of Secondary Education of Chania, Manolis Christodoulakis, without any progress. “These children should be taken for granted and we will all continue to correct this situation. They have left the children to the “mercy of God”. Essentially since the day the school opened, it has been operating with five people, while seven more are needed, with the number of children reaching 17″.
