“For 15 years, KIFF has been an important bridge for Korean and Indonesian people to better understand each other’s culture. This year’s KIFF will have indie films, short films and Korean musical films being shown for the first time. One of the interesting things is films remake My Annoying Brother, which is a remake of a Korean film. “Hopefully, when Indonesian audiences watch it, they can better understand the essence of the film,” said Director of the Korean Cultiral Center Indonesia (KCCI) Kim Yong-woon during the KIFF 2024 press conference at CGV Grand Indonesia, Tuesday, (22/10).

The producer and writer of the film adaptation of My Annoying Brother, Sheila Timothy, said that the universal language of love between brothers and sisters can also be translated into various societies. Because of this, he also included many local Indonesian elements in the film to give the characters more life and have in-depth story layers.

“In the original film, there are lots of relationships between brothers and sisters who don’t get along, which is a bit strange. And there is no such habit in Indonesia. We change and replace scene. Apart from that, which also differentiates the Indonesian version of the film from the original, we added background stories to the characters sidekick“nya,” said the woman who is familiarly called Lala during a press conference.
