WASHINGTON (EFE).— The former president of the United States and Republican candidate for the White House, Donald Trump, requested planes and military vehicles from the government for his travels in the remainder of the campaign due to threats against his life.
In addition, the campaign also requested flight restrictions on its meetings and rallies, as well as bulletproof screens in the seven key states, according to an article in The Washington Post, which had access to emails.
These requests from Trump’s campaign manager, Susie Wiles, to acting director of the Secret Service, Ronald Rowe, come after the campaign has received intelligence reports suggesting that Iran intends to kill the former president.
According to the “Post”, the campaign believes that Joe Biden’s government has not offered a plan extensive enough to protect Trump, who in recent months has been the victim of two assassination attempts, although neither linked to Iran.
Asked about this, Biden said that the government will offer Trump everything he needs “as long as he does not ask for F-15 aircraft.”
“I have told the Department (of Defense) to give him everything he needs (…) as if he were a sitting president, to give him everything he needs,” Biden told reporters.
Trump was the victim of the first assassination attempt on July 13 during an outdoor event in Butler, Pennsylvania, in which he was shot in the right ear while giving a rally, shot by a young man who was later shot dead.
On September 15, what was considered the second attempt occurred when Secret Service agents spotted a man with a semi-automatic rifle hiding behind some bushes at the Trump International Golf Club, where Trump was playing with a group of friends.
On the other hand, the former president yesterday stoked fears about migration in Aurora, Colorado, a city that he himself put at the center of national attention to criticize the policies of the Democratic government and promote false narratives about Venezuelan immigrants.
At a massive rally, Trump raised the tone of the xenophobic ideas that have set the pace of his campaign, ensuring that Venezuelan migrants have infected Aurora and promising to clean up the country if he is elected to the Presidency: “On November 5th I will to rescue all the cities that have been invaded and conquered,” he stressed.
