Medical students criticized what they called “fallacies” that were passed again inside Parliament last Monday in the House of Representatives, by the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, Abdellatif Meraoui.
The National Committee for Medical, Dental, and Pharmacy Students announced its intention to hold a press conference during the next week to clarify its position on the aforementioned “fallacies,” while calling on the Kingdom Mediator Foundation to “assume its responsibility and clarify its position to national public opinion regarding the absurdity of the government and the ministry’s handling of this file.”
In a related context, the committee stressed the students’ insistence on continuing to “boycott theoretical lessons and hospital training until the demands are met and crowned with a signed report that binds all parties, as is customary, as it is an effective social partner.”
On the other hand, the representation of students in medicine, dentistry and pharmacy criticized “the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation reprogramming the exams without examining the problem and solving it and without involving the National Committee,” considering this programming “a failed attempt to destabilize student unity,” while warning against “all interference.” It aims to undermine joint efforts and return the file to point zero by any party.”
The National Committee for Medical Students highlighted that the government’s ministerial proposal “contains extensive retreats, especially from what was presented in June by the government, in an attempt to further humiliate the students, disdain their demands, underestimate their struggle, or rely on dividing them and weakening their support.”
The same committee concluded that “the long duration of the medical students’ crisis (…) increases the students’ belief in the legitimacy of their demands,” stressing that the only and only solution to the long-standing crisis is “serious and responsible dealing with the students’ legitimate questions, away from patchwork solutions that deepen the origins of the problem and not solve it.” for him”.
It is noteworthy that Abdel Latif Mirawi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, confirmed that the file of the Division of Pharmacy students who joined their colleges in order to pursue their studies had been settled, indicating in the oral questions session in the House of Representatives, on Monday, that the settlement of the file of the Division of Medical Students is still open, There are four outstanding points.
The Minister summarized these points regarding the training period, disciplinary penalties, student offices, and exam programming, pointing out that the percentage of students boycotting lessons until the October session is 41 percent, which means that 60 percent of the students are continuing their training.
The minister called for not bidding on the issue of medical students, especially since there are those who have an interest in prolonging this crisis, pointing out that the student offices that exist today are illegal because the offices were originally allocated for parallel activities and cultural events.
