Welcome to the Philharmonic’s Winter Wonderland!
Well, well, well, look who’s back! That’s right, it’s the Philharmonic, and as they kick off a winter season that’s more packed than a Christmas turkey, it seems we’re in for quite a treat! With 18 events planned in their historic venue on via Gramsci, we’re not just talking about your grandma’s knitting club.
Now, if you thought cultural events were only for those wearing bow ties and sipping champagne, think again! With a mix of theatre, classical and pop music, and social shindigs that would make any post-COVID party look like a kids’ birthday bash, this is the kind of season that’ll have people elbowing their way to the front of the stage faster than you can say “please don’t spill the punch!”
President Enrico Ruffini—who, by the sounds of it, is on a mission—has aimed for at least 50 members for the 2023-2024 period. And what do you know, he’s exceeded 60! That’s right folks, we’ve blown past those expectations like a champagne cork at a wedding! And younger folks are piling in too, which means our future is safe from the dreaded fate of awful music and boring events. With a crisp tango performance from the Tango Academy and the pulsating rhythms of the Riccardo Foresi Band, this is shaping up to be more than your average night at the theatre.

Ready for some highlights? Mark your calendars, because here are a few soirees that are demanding your unnecessary attention:
- December 15: Birthday and Christmas Bash with Luxury Theatre. Some people love parties; others just want the excuse for the dessert table!
- December 31: New Year’s Eve Gala with Fuzzy Dice. Because nothing says “Let’s bring in the New Year!” like a band you only vaguely remember!
- January 6: Befana Celebration. What better way to ring in the new year than a celebration dedicated to an ancient witch who delivers candy? Now that’s some quality family fun!
- February 14: Valentine’s Day Special with Deborah De Vico. Cuddle up with your special someone, or your slightly awkward date—you do you!
- March 1: A Carnival Dinner and Dance with “Attention to those two.” Not quite sure what that means, but aren’t we all curious?
- April 12: A Spring Festival featuring a tribute to Adriano Celentano. A little something for everyone, even if you have no idea who he is. (A quick Google search might be in order!)
Musical Delights Await! 🎶
And for those of us who prefer our entertainment à la carte, you won’t want to miss the light music concerts popping up throughout the season.
- November 10: Get blown away with Route 77!
- December 8: Seven Lives and One Cat? I don’t know about you, but I’m intrigued!
- March 9: A tribute to women with the Gruppo il mio Canto Libero. Because we all know behind every great man is a woman rolling her eyes.

And let’s not forget about the theatrical reviews! Prepare for laughter, tears, and possibly some awkward moments, with titles like “La Cena dei Idioti” and “Callaghan’s Chocolate.” Honestly, the names promise a rollercoaster of experiences.

The year that has just opened for the Philharmonic’s winter season will be a special one, with 18 events scheduled inside the historic building in via Gramsci. Appointments dedicated to theatre, classical and pop music, and social parties. The opportunity to present it to members was the Autumn Festival, a gala which saw the participation of over 190 people in the theater hall last Saturday.
“After Covid I aimed to obtain at least 50 members for the period 2023-2024 – explains president Enrico Ruffini –, but we have exceeded 60. I am pleased to see how there is an ever-increasing participation of young people in our events”. On Saturday evening there will also be two moments of entertainment with the Tango Academy and the Riccardo Foresi Band. This is the calendar of initiatives.
