Fast bowler of Pakistani cricket team Shaheen Afridi has said that the bowling partnership in the Asia Cup match made the Indian batting difficult.

In the ODI match played between India and Pakistan on Saturday (September 2) in Kandy, Sri Lanka, the Indian team won the toss and elected to bat first. Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli also took wickets.

Pakistan thus gained a psychological advantage in the match, but the match ended inconclusively due to rain and both teams got one point each.

To Pakistan Asia Cup It was enough to get them into the Super Four stage and if India avoid defeat by Nepal at the same venue on Monday, they too will be in the Super Four stage.

The two teams could meet twice more if they reach the final of the Asia Cup before next month’s 50-over World Cup in Ahmedabad.

In a video chat on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) social media account, Shaheen Shah Afridi said about the national team director: ‘Mickey Arthur always says that fast bowlers win you the tournament and we always bowled in partnership. Let’s try.’

He said the role of the third member of the pace attack, Haris Rauf, was to ‘instill fear in the opposition batsmen through fast bowling and bouncers while Naseem and I rely on swing.’

Shaheen Shah Afridi dismissed the Indian captain Rohit Sharma for 11 runs and after that he scattered Virat Kohli’s balls in the air for four runs.

Shaheen Shah Afridi took four wickets for 35 runs while Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah took three wickets each to restrict the Indian team to 266. Ishan Kishan scored 82 runs and Hardik Pandya scored 87 runs to take India to 266 runs.

Shaheen believes that Pakistan would have won the match if the weather had cooperated. He said: ‘Virat is the backbone of the Indian team and taking his wicket is a big thing.’

He added: ‘The result was in our hands but overall a very good innings performance from the team.’

Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar also praised Shaheen Afridi’s bowling spell. On his official YouTube channel, he said: ‘I don’t think Rohit Sharma can know and understand Shaheen.’

According to Shoaib: ‘It was not a good thing for Rohit to be out like this in the video. (What happened) is that he is a much better player.’
