He said that it was very difficult to administer blood at that time as compared to today, because then there was no social media, so it was very difficult to administer blood.

Seeing this, I started this car. I and other college mates along with me used to go to colleges, go to schools and explain and encourage the boys there to donate blood and thus we used to manage blood for thalassemia children.’

Qaiser added: ‘So I started this campaign and used to go to hospitals with my college friends and donate blood. At that time there were not many patients and hospitals did not have their own thalassemia ward. Then other patients also needed blood, so we used to donate blood for them too.’

Qaiser said that when he joined Punjab Highway Patrol Police in 2004, he started his campaign on social networking sites and created some pages and groups there which now have millions of members.

He said: ‘Whoever needs blood contacts us which we advertise on our social media and thus we manage to donate blood to the needy people. Through social media, we manage to donate blood to four to eight people every day.’

According to Kaiser, the parents of some children with thalassemia are so poor that they even beg the hospital fare.

“We also arrange blood for them, buy a bag of blood and if they need medicines, we also buy them.”

He said that it is a very painful disease and he has seen many parents who said that their own relatives have turned away from them because their children need blood every month and they They come to ask for blood.

He said that apart from Mianwali, we now have a network in Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Lahore. There are also young guys who do different jobs and young people from universities who cooperate with us a lot.

He said: ‘There are now more than five hundred thalassemia children in Mianwali and it is very difficult for them to get blood because these children need blood every month and some need blood twice a month. is

“There are many households where there are four to five thalassemia patients. Our first priority for them is to administer blood.’

He said that apart from thalassemia, there are accident cases or someone who has received a bullet, they also arrange blood for cancer patients and nowadays, especially after the birth of a child, women are receiving a lot of blood. Yes, we arrange blood donation for them too.

Qaiser said that his superiors encourage him in this good work and the recent IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar invited him to his office in Lahore in the presence of DIG Patrolling Athar Waheed and presented him with a certificate of appreciation and cash reward. Speaking to Independent Urdu, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said: ‘Policemen like Qaiser are a valuable asset to the police department and bring good name to the department.’

He further said: ‘Punjab Police will fully cooperate with them in the good work that these constables are doing and other employees and officers will also be encouraged to participate in this good work.’
