Depression is a disease that can occur in any of us. Age, social status or the procedure performed do not matter here. Actress Małgorzata Potocka struggled with this problem. The artist talked about her experiences on Dzień Dobry TVN.
Małgorzata Potocka about depression
The artist was convinced that the enormous love and upbringing she received from her father would protect her from anything. She confessed that she didn’t even consider that something might break her, that she might suffer from depression. However, it turned out differently. – Sometimes it happens that even the strongest person, the most resilient person, can be crushed by life circumstances – said Małgorzata Potocka on Dzień Dobry TVN.
The actress added that what it activated depression, there were breakups and divorce. – It wasn’t a defect I was born with, it wasn’t an inherited or transmitted trauma, it was just a kind of depression that happens as a result of the situation. Someone leaves, some death, some misfortune. People then fall, unnoticed, into sadness, distance and alienation. Suddenly they start to distance themselves from the whole world, she added.
Małgorzata Potocka admitted that she started looking for help when she realized that she did not want her children to see a mother who could not cope with reality. After consulting a doctor, she received medication. However, pharmaceuticals did not work. After talking to the doctor, she stopped taking them and, on his advice, went to a warm country. – It was the strongest injection that helped me a little – she added and emphasized that pharmacotherapy should not be abandoned without talking to a doctor. – It has to be with a doctor – she explained.
Why do we need to talk about depression?
– It is not an example of severe depression that ruined my life or that I had to overcome for many years. I was out of it for seven years. I believe that popular people who are known, liked or appreciated should talk about such matters and not hide it. Because then people gain courage. My dream has always been that if I won the lottery, the first thing I would do was build a center for the treatment of depression among young people. Because young people suffer the most because they cannot help themselves and have no support – she explained.

Depression: A Disease Even Małgorzata Potocka Couldn’t Outrun
Well, would you look at that! Depression is in the headlines again, and this time, it’s courtesy of actress Małgorzata Potocka on Dzień Dobry TVN. Who knew morning television could be such a deep dive into the iceberg of human emotion? You’d expect light chit-chat over croissants, not the heavy stuff like depression!
When Love Isn’t Enough
Potocka, bless her heart, opened up about her struggles with depression and how, despite a childhood filled with love and affection from her father, she found herself grappling with the dark cloud that is depression. It just shows that not even a love-filled upbringing can protect you from life’s curveballs. Life’s a cheeky git like that; it doesn’t care where you came from, only what you’re going through!
She reflects, “Sometimes it happens that even the strongest person, the most resilient person, can be crushed by life circumstances.” It’s like realizing your favorite superhero can’t defeat Thanos after all. Spoiler alert: Life can be a right villain!
Life Happens, Yes It Does!
So what triggered this wave of sadness for Potocka? Well, breakups and divorce caused a derailment, turning her vibrant life into a bit of a soap opera, minus the dramatic music. Now, we’re all familiar with the symptoms of heartache, but to have it called ‘not a defect or transmitted trauma’ but rather a situational meltdown? I mean, sometimes it takes a small nudge to fall into the abyss of melancholy, and she nailed it on the head!
Can you believe she initially sought help just to avoid giving her kiddos a glum version of their mom? Smart move! There’s nothing like parenthood to kick your resilience into gear. “Get help or risk being the world’s worst role model,” I say! A conversation with a doctor and some medication later, and she was off to a warm country for a dosage of sunshine therapy. Now that’s what I call a vacation—better than a five-star resort!
Let’s Chat About Depression, People!
Potocka urges the importance of celebrities speaking out about mental health, so everyday folk don’t feel like they’re alone in the struggle. She highlights “Because young people suffer the most because they cannot help themselves and have no support.” Sounds like a recipe for a reality show, but one with a meaningful twist!
She even dreams of using lottery winnings to build a center for young people battling depression. Hear that, everybody? If she wins the lottery, it’s time to reach for those checkbooks! But who doesn’t want to plop down cash for a good cause?
Wrapping It Up
There you have it, folks. Potocka’s story is a powerful reminder that mental struggles can pop up as unpredictably as a pickpocket in a crowded market. It’s a relatable tale that emphasizes the necessity of dialogue surrounding depression. After all, if a strong, glamorous actress deals with this, we’d best believe we’re all in the same life boat, perhaps paddling a bit wildly!
Please remember, while there’s no clear path to healing, the most crucial step is speaking up and breaking that daunting silence!
