The 4th edition of the Central Africa Business Energy Forum (CABEF) opens this Wednesday in Libreville under the theme “natural gas as the key to the industrialization and economic acceleration of Central Africa, via sub-national institutional integration”. regionally effective”.
For three days, the various participants, who are the ministers of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), major investors, business leaders, and international experts, expected at this meeting, will have to find ways of solutions so that natural gas can catalyze industrialization, create jobs and boost economic growth in Central Africa.
« Emphasis will be placed on the need for effective sub-regional institutional integration to optimize the exploitation and management of natural gas. This includes establishing regional cooperation mechanisms, strengthening energy infrastructure and harmonizing policies to ensure sustainable and beneficial use of natural gas. », Indicates the press release announcing this event. Gabon should seize this opportunity to establish strategic partnerships to enable it to further develop its energy sector.
This edition takes place in the post-COP28 Dubai Conference context, which recommended a transition towards non-fossil energies with the objective of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Faced with this challenge, it is imperative as soon as now to reinvent Central Africa’s energy models, in order to achieve near-neutrality in carbon emissions while judiciously exploiting the sub-region’s fossil and renewable resources. Local raw materials and technologies will play a crucial role in this energy transition.
More than 2,000 participants from key entities in the energy sector from 11 Central African countries are expected at this forum.
This fourth edition is organized after that of Congo-Brazzaville in 2021, Cameroon in 2022 and Chad in 2023.
