It is believed that the appointment of badminton legend Taufik Hidayat as Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports will provide inspiration for the younger generation. This was stated by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo, to media crew in Jakarta, Monday (21/10/2024).
“I think Mas Taufik is very positive, his character is very inspiring for the younger generation,” said Dito.
Taufik Hidayat is a former badminton athlete who excelled at national and world level. He achieved his peak achievement with a gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics in men’s singles after defeating South Korea’s representative, Shon Seung-mo.
Dito added that Taufik Hidayat would provide additional positive energy. He will also delegate a number of main tasks to Taufik which touch directly on sports and those related to young people.
“In the world of sports, Mas Taufik is a legend and when he comes down, I’m sure he will provide positive energy and atmosphere,” said Dito, who was again appointed as menpora.
The two of them have communicated to discuss matters related to future work which is a common priority for the future progress of sports.
“He explained how he could help the Ministry of Youth and Sports and there were many things that I felt we had to coordinate with each other,” concluded Dito. (Ant/P-3)
