At a time when Pakistan has to take part in the home series against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, fast bowler Mohammad Amir will play for Bangladesh. Pakistan Cricket Board has issued NOC to Amir.
Earlier, Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Irfan have also been allowed to participate in BPL. Bangladesh’s Twenty20 tournament has been known to be suspicious of bookies’ activities in the past. Britain’s crime agency arrested 36-year-old Yusuf Anwar and 34-year-old Muhammad Ijaz last year during an investigation into the spot-fixing scandal in cricket tournaments organized by the Pakistan and Bangladesh Cricket Boards.
Both men had previously denied the charges against them but changed their pleas before the trial at Manchester Crown Court. Anwar and Ijaz pleaded guilty to offering financial benefits to players in the Bangladesh Premier League between November and December 2016. Both men have also pleaded guilty to making similar offers to players participating in the Pakistan Super League between November 2016 and February 2017.
