Pakistani cricket team players Usman Shinwari and Faheem Ashraf have signed a contract with the Big Bash League. Both will represent the Melbourne Renegades. Fast bowler Usman Shinwari has represented the Renegades before.
The Big Bash League will be played from December 17 to February 8. The Melbourne Renegades will play their first match of the season against the Sydney Thunders on December 19.
Usman Shinwari will play for the Melbourne Renegades for the second consecutive season. Last season, Usman Shinwari’s performance was outstanding, he bowled with an economy rate of 6.14 while his average bowling speed was recorded at 151 kmph.
Usman Shinwari will be available for Melbourne Renegades’ opening five matches in the Big Bash League, after which he will be replaced by England’s Harry Gurney. Usman Shinwari is considered a strong candidate for the Test series against Sri Lanka, if he is selected in the squad, Usman Shinwari may have to miss the Big Bash matches.
The two-Test series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will continue till December 23.
Apart from this, all-rounder Faheem Ashraf has been signed for the first time. He will be available to Melbourne Renegades for the first 8 matches after which he will be replaced by Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi.
Due to fitness issues, Faheem Ashraf is currently participating in a rehabilitation program at the National Cricket Academy Lahore. Faheem Ashraf is recovering fast from his knee injury.
