A statement by the Syrian government about its strategic goals and its commitment to supporting the army to ensure its role in the war and reconstruction

The Syrian government said in its statement: “The government is committed to continuing to support the Syrian Arab Army and the Armed Forces and enabling them to defend our country, protect its sanctities, ensure the safety of its people, and develop its capabilities, out of its belief in the principle that the army is for war and reconstruction, and to strengthen military capabilities to achieve deterrence and defense on the one hand, and to participate in building the nation and developing it.” His capabilities in all fields and their organization in the best way within a strategic framework to achieve our national security on the other hand.”

Within this vision, the Syrian government adopts the following strategic goals:

• Striving to achieve the state’s goals of liberating all occupied parts of the country, eliminating terrorism, rebuilding deterrence, preventing enemies from attacking the interests and sovereignty of the state, and achieving security and stability.
• Working to organize and mobilize energies to achieve the tasks of military and security policies with the aim of establishing security and stability in all territories of the Syrian Arab Republic.
• Combating terrorism in all its forms and tools, and all types of crime.
• Supporting and empowering the families of the martyrs of our army and armed forces, our wounded, and their families, and working to provide them with a decent life in fulfillment of their great sacrifices.

The Syrian government’s efforts in the field of defense and national security face major challenges, the most important of which are:

• Some countries support terrorism in our country and protect armed terrorist groups.
• “Zionist attacks” against the countries of the region, especially against our country, the occupied Palestinian territories, and brotherly Lebanon.
• The hostile policies of some countries towards our country.

To confront these challenges and achieve national goals in defence, security and stability, the Syrian government adopts the following approaches:

• Adopting a defense and security policy that promotes the highest interests of the state and protects it from risks, taking into account internal and external variables, regionally and internationally.
• Continue to empower the armed forces and raise their level to be able to confront all threats, challenges and dangers.
• Follow up on raising the readiness of the Ministry of Interior in the field of maintaining security and order, and confronting armed terrorist gangs.
• Cooperating with friendly countries and benefiting from their experiences to develop the capabilities of security and order forces.
