Among the most popular work areas are customer service and management, information technology (IT) and telecommunications, sales and marketing. According to our calculations, more than half of the representatives of Generation Z work in these areas”, says Aušrinė Ambrolaitytė, an analyst at “Figure Baltic Advisory”.
The gap between men’s and women’s wages is also noticeable here
According to the data of the Lithuanian market remuneration survey conducted by the company, the average basic monthly salary in the country is 2195 EUR (before taxes), and the average hourly wage is 7.2 EUR (before taxes). At that time, the average annual base salary is EUR 22,971 (before taxes), and the total salary with a variable part, including commissions, variables and other bonuses, is EUR 24,959 (before taxes).

Gen Z men earn more than women: 4.2 percent in hourly pay, 14.2 percent in base monthly pay, 17.1 percent in base annual pay, and 19.1 percent in total annual pay, according to the study. percent more.
However, according to the interviewee, it is not worth making final conclusions yet, because the positions held by employees in different work areas and the weight of responsibilities are not taken into account.
“In order to more accurately assess the real gap between Gen Z men’s and women’s wages, one should take into account not the averages, but the median – the central values that divide the entire set of values in half. In this way, we see that the gaps are not so pronounced, and in some cases they do not even exist, for example, in terms of hourly wages, both men and women earn equally. At that time, the difference between the basic monthly remuneration received is only 5%”, explains the remuneration research analyst.
The highest salaries are in the IT sector
The Lithuanian market compensation study conducted by “Figure Baltic Advisory” also evaluated the areas where representatives of generation Z currently work and how much they earn on average. It can be seen that the highest amount is earned in the IT and telecommunications sector: the average basic monthly salary is EUR 3032 (before taxes), the average basic annual salary is EUR 36377 (before taxes), and the total annual salary is EUR 38387 (before taxes).
At that time, the lowest salaries are received in the field of customer service and management. Although the average basic monthly salary amounts to 1606 EUR (before taxes) and is not the lowest among other branches of activity, employees in this sector receive the lowest average basic and total annual salaries: 15935 EUR (before taxes) and 17819 EUR (before taxes), respectively.
“Both those born between 1997 and 2012, as well as older specialists, the salaries they receive are determined not by belonging to a specific age group, but by the experience gained, the competences available and the situation of a specific field in relation to the labor market. Representatives of the alpha generation, who will start entering the labor market in a few years, could expect similar conditions,” says A. Ambrolaitytė, analyst at “Figure Baltic Advisory”.
