Water provision continues to families in the Paraguayan Chaco

Asunción, IP Agency.- This Monday, a new contingent of tanker trucks was sent to the Paraguayan Chaco, which will replenish the cisterns from which families affected by the drought are supplied. Shipments will continue as long as necessary, authorities announced.

The contingent of 21 trucks that left Asunción this Monday transports a total of 285,000 liters of water that will be distributed to families in Chaco. This is the 28th shipment that has been made.

“As long as there is a need for water in the Chaco, we are going to continue with this operation,” said the Minister of Defense, Óscar González, who, together with the Minister of the National Emergency Secretariat, Arsenio Zárate, accompanied the departure of the trucks.

The SEN minister indicated that this week the work will focus on the department of Boquerón, towards the Pilcomayo sector, mainly to supply educational institutions, Family Health Units and health centers, which have community cisterns from where families also they withdraw.

Operation “Y Jeroja II”, which has transported nearly 9 million liters of water to Chaco, is carried out with inter-institutional support from the Ministries of National Defense, Public Works, National Emergency Secretariat, Armed Forces, Petróleos Paraguayos, Essap, Command of the Military Forces, Itaipu Binacional, National Police, Paraguayan Road Chamber, departmental and municipal governments.
