Caribes de Anzoátegui swept LVBP 2022-2023 Season”>Bravos de Margarita and Tigres de Aragua MLB Trade: Arias and Chirinos Switch Teams for LVBP 2022-2023 Season”>Bravos de Margarita in the series of two matches played over the weekend at the Alfonso “Chico” Carrasquel stadium in Puerto La Cruz, which was also La Tribu’s home debut.

With the pair of wins, the ninth native left its mark with three wins and five losses (3-5), which helped it leave the basement of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP), a place now occupied by the island team. (2-6).

Those led by Morgan Ensberg had as their pillars timely hitting and a good performance by the pitching staff. They won Saturday’s match 7-3, while on Sunday they won 5-1.

It is worth noting that for the second consecutive season Herlis Rodríguez scored the first run for the Anzoatiguenses in “La Choza” and on both occasions it was with a solo home run through right field.

It should be noted that, in addition to Rodríguez, in the series of two challenges Leonardo Reginatto, Antonio Piñero and the big league Andruw Monasterio also flew the fence.

Effective pitching

For Caribes, it is great news that the pitching staff is beginning to perform, since, combined with the interesting offensive lineup that manager Ensberg usually presents, it has more opportunities to compete for a place in the postseason.

In Saturday’s duel the starter was the Dominican Deyni Olivero, who appeared for four innings and received two of the three runs of the visit. On Sunday Cristian Hernández had the ball from the beginning and launched five acts in which he tolerated the only line from the islanders.

This means that in nine innings the Aboriginal bullpen only received one run (a home run by David Rodríguez to Loiger Padrón on Saturday). It remains to be seen if he can maintain that dominant pace throughout the campaign.

Next challenges

Caribes, which finished the second week of the 2024/2025 LVBP harvest with two wins and four losses, will now have six games at home. First they will face a series of two against Cardenales de Lara on Tuesday, October 22 and Wednesday, October 23.

Later they will host Tigres de Aragua on Thursday and Friday, while on Saturday and Sunday the rival will be Leones del Caracas.
