In the battle between Apple, Microsoft, Google, Amazon and Meta for the title of the world’s most valuable company this year, a company that few people had heard of at all just a few years ago unexpectedly entered – the manufacturer of artificial intelligence chips Nvidia. .

In June, this US-listed company even briefly became the most valuable company in the world, and in October its valuation reached 3.39 trillion US dollars.

Every year we observe changes in the top 100 of the most valuable Lithuanian companies, and the Lithuanian companies included in it counted another good year. The total value of the 100 compiled for the fifth time increased by 1.3 billion euros during the year and reached 39.2 billion. euro value.
The estimate of the last company included in the top 100 also grew – this year the list was completed by a company worth 96.4 million. euros, last year this threshold was 84 million. euros, and five years ago, the last company on the list compiled for the first time was worth only 35 million. euros.
It is true that the number of companies that have reached the billion-euro mark in Lithuania decreased during the year – last year there were 12, and this year – 10. However, if we compare with the first list five years ago, in 2020 there were only four such companies.
New old leader
Biotechnology company Thermo Fisher Scientific Baltics, which won the title of the most valuable company in Lithuania for two years, lost first place to retail giant Maxima Group in this year’s list.

“Thermo Fisher Scientific Baltics company showed a dizzying jump during the pandemic year, so it is quite natural that when the threats of the pandemic receded, it had to give up its leading position. However, according to D. Rakauskaitė, this biotechnology company will continue to remain in a strong position and may return to the first place in the list in the future.
