Like Brazil, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, will represent the Cuban delegation.
One of the main topics of this BRICS summit will be the possible accession of Cuba to the group, following the declaration of the general director of Bilateral Affairs of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Miguel Pereira, about Cuba’s intention to become a Partner Country .
The Cuban diplomat affirmed that the BRICS represents hope for the countries of the South, especially for those that face sanctions and blockades, such as the tax imposed by the United States on Cuba.
Cuba is currently facing one of the worst energy crises in its history, with widespread blackouts throughout the weekend. Thanks to a monumental effort by electricity sector workers and authorities, it is reported that 83% of customers in the capital already have electricity supply.
Overcoming the current energy crisis, completely restoring service and maintaining fuel supplies are some of the main objectives that Cuba must achieve.
