Jakarta –
BenQ collaborates with Focal Powered by Naim Indonesia to present a talk show with the theme “Audio-Visual and Design Integration” in the series of Indonesia Design Week (IDW) 2024.
This talk show is packed with education in exploring audio and video solutions that can enrich design in various fields, from architecture to user experience.
The speakers were architect Ren Katili who is the Principal of Studio ArchitecttropiS, Imelda (Marketing Director of Focal powered by Naim Indonesia), and Erlina (Business Development Manager of BenQ Indonesia).
The focus of the discussion is how combining sound, visual and design elements can enhance storytelling, engage audiences and create immersive experiences. In an increasingly digital world, understanding this integration is critical for professionals looking to push the boundaries of creativity.
“Harmony between audio and interior design is the key to creating a home cinema that is not only aesthetic but also functional and provides comfort,” said Imelda, in a statement received by detikINET.
BenQ and Focal powered by Naim are committed to continuing to push the boundaries of innovation and creativity. Both also emphasized the importance of collaboration between various creative disciplines.
“Architects, interior designers, contractors and audio professionals must share a discussion space and work together, showing how cross-disciplinary teamwork can produce an extraordinary Dolby Atmos“>Home Cinema room,” said Erlina.
Audio-visual integration refers to combining sound and images to form a harmonious narrative. In today’s digital era, the connection between visual design and audio elements is increasingly important.
Using the right audio elements can strengthen the visual message and in turn, create a more complete and emotionally moving experience. In the context of space design, architects have an important role in ensuring that audio-visual elements are well integrated.
“When designing a space, it is important to consider how sound interacts with visual elements. With proper planning, we can create an atmosphere that supports an immersive audio-visual experience, whether in a home cinema or other entertainment space,” said Ren Katili.
Apart from space elements, layout, light control, audio and materials, projectors play a very important role in supporting technology integration that can create the ultimate immersive home cinema room that users dream of.
BenQ’s latest, most premium projector to date is the W5800 4K, which comes with a super wide CinematicColor 100% DCI-P3 and 100% Rec.709 color space delivering precise colors to perfectly preserve what the director envisioned.
This true 4K projector is capable of producing 8.3 million pixels in total. Reproduce the image according to the artist’s wishes. Coupled with dynamic black technology which makes the contrast of dark and light more vivid.
Port support is complete, including dual HDMI 2.0b (HDCP 2.2), two USB Type A, SPDIF, and eARC which enables 7.1 channel and Dolby Atmos audio, transmitting audio at full native resolution without any changes to the sound system via a single HDMI cable.
1.6x optical motorized zoom allows easy adjustment of the projector’s projection ratio for flexible screen placement. In contrast to digital zoom, optical zoom maintains image quality without pixel damage and latency. The BenQ W5800 uses 2D lens shift (±50% vertical and ±21% horizontal) to produce perfectly straight images without losing resolution.
The W5800 light source is capable of providing up to 20,000 hours of life in Normal power mode and 25,000 hours of laser life in ECO mode, offering users years of use without having to worry about replacing bulbs.

You can! Like a sustainable buffet for your senses.
A Fusion of Senses
Now, you might be wondering, “What’s the big deal about combining sound and visual design?” I’m glad you asked! This isn’t merely about having a great-looking home cinema, both imaginatively and practically. It’s about how clever integration of these elements can elevate storytelling and sprinkle a little magic into audience engagement—because who doesn’t want their guests wondering if they accidentally stumbled into Hogwarts?
Star-studded Panel
Ren Katili, captain of the architectural ship at Studio ArchitecttropiS, alongside Imelda, the dazzling Marketing Director of Focal powered by Naim, and last but not least, Erlina, Business Development Manager of BenQ Indonesia, were on hand to share their insights. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t an awkward silence!
The Harmony of Design
Imelda hit the nail on the head when she stated, “Harmony between audio and interior design is the key to creating a home cinema that is not only aesthetic but also functional and provides comfort.” And you thought harmony was just for choirs! It’s now the secret ingredient to your next Netflix binge.
Collaboration, Baby!
Erlina chimed in, emphasizing that architects, interior designers, and audio professionals must create a “discussion space”—no, not the one with the gluten-free blueberry muffins, but rather a collaborative environment. When these creative brains collide, the result is a home cinema that even your dog will be impressed by. Probably.
Immersive Experiences
What’s that? You want your home theater to be immersive? Well, naturally! Ren Katili elaborated on how sound interacts with visual elements, urging careful planning to create an enchanting atmosphere. If your space doesn’t transport you to another world, are you even trying? Remember: the right combination can turn your living room into a cinematic galaxy.
Say Hello to the W5800 4K
Let’s talk tech! BenQ’s bazillion-pixel wonder—the W5800 4K—was showcased. Capable of producing 8.3 million pixels, it ensures that you can see the sweat on Tom Cruise’s forehead during those thrilling chase scenes! Not to mention, its contrast technology maximizes the impact between light and dark. Honestly, it’s like having a little mini-director in your room—minus the megaphone and caffeine jitters.
The projector also features dual HDMI 2.0b, USP Type A ports and helium balloons—I mean, eARC—for a full Dolby Atmos experience. Add in a 1.6x optical motorized zoom for flexibility, and you’ve got a recipe for cinematic success. And don’t worry about bulb replacements for quite some time, this beauty boasts up to 25,000 hours of use! Yes, that’s right, years of uninterrupted movie marathons, with zero maintenance stress.
Final Thoughts
In an era where digital design and audiovisual systems are practically intertwined like long-lost twins, the importance of understanding and integrating these elements cannot be overstated. So, if you’re an architect or designer, this is your wake-up call—cross-disciplinary collaboration is not just encouraged; it’s essential. Let’s mix it up and create experiences that defy the average! Who knows? Maybe one day we’ll all have our very own cinema at home—complete with popcorn that doesn’t get stuck in your teeth!
