“He was on call and studied from his job. And he was coming to the road with 70 kilometers by car. He had no speed. And a truck was thrown off the dirt road without a grandfather’s control and killed him,” said the mother-in-law of the 47-year-old.
His duty at the Lamia hospital was difficult. Throughout the night he took care of the 7 wounded from the Domoko prisons, continuing his shift until the morning.
“His shift ended at 9 am. If he had left at 9 in the morning, perhaps if he had left on time he would have avoided the fatal accident”, said Michalis Giannakos, president of POEDIN.

“I’d rather die because I’m old. And I have no obligations. My children are married and so are my grandchildren. I’d rather – I tell you – kill myself. He was a useful man and had 4 children. And a doctor in society, you understand,” said the 82-year-old.
The photos of the farmer and the wrecked machine testify to the severity with which the collision took place. The helmet the 47-year-old was wearing was unfortunately not enough to save his life, with reports saying the doctor was thrown several meters away.
