Philadelphia 76ers new star Paul George was forced to leave the NBA pre-season match against the Atlanta Hawks, Tuesday (15/10) WIB due to a left knee injury.
George, who just joined the Sixers as a free agent this summer, hyperextended his left knee while playing defense in the second quarter.
“I felt my knee hyperextend and I immediately knew that I needed to go out to get checked,” George said as quoted on the NBA’s official website.

“However, if you ask me, I’m not too worried,” he continued.
Hyperextension is a condition when a joint exceeds its normal range of motion. This can cause stretching or tearing of ligaments, tendons, or tissue around the joint, ultimately causing injury.
Sixers coach Nick Nurse said George would undergo further examination on Wednesday (16/10) WIB.

“We don’t want any player to get injured, especially in this pre-season phase. We are just starting to get him into the team system. Hopefully he will recover soon and be back with us,” said Nurse.
The Philadelphia 76ers, who have been careful with their stars, also decided to suspend center Joel Embiid for the remainder of the preseason to treat the health of his left knee, which he injured last season.
These Sixers hope to keep Embiid and George in shape for the long regular season.

George, who signed a four-year, $212 million contract this summer, is one of the Sixers’ top hopes along with 2023 NBA MVP Joel Embiid and NBA All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey.
It is hoped that the combination of these three star players can bring the Sixers to compete with top teams, such as the Boston Celtics, who became NBA champions last season.
George previously played for the Los Angeles Clippers and last season made 76 appearances, his highest total since the 2018-2019 season. (Ant/Z-1)
