Jakarta, Gizmology – In accordance with rumors that have been circulating for several months, Samsung has finally presented the newest option for its best foldable, through the presence of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Debuting from its home country, there are a number of improvements brought, especially in terms of dimensions and camera capabilities.
This was revealed directly by Sungtaek Lim, Executive VP, Samsung Electronics Korea. “The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition offers a slim and light folding experience, with beautiful patterns and deep colors making it a more sophisticated design.” So what’s new compared to the series released last July?

The body is getting thinner, the screen is getting bigger
In terms of design, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition looks more or less the same as the Galaxy Z Fold 6, at least from the official images provided by Samsung. The corners of the device are designed to be rectangular, complete with a rear camera module that places the cameras parallel. Brings Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection for the windshield, Armor Aluminum, and IP48 certification which makes it water resistant. However, in terms of dimensions, this new option is actually more “fun”.
Because the profile of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is 1.5mm thinner, it weighs 3 grams less—even when the fold is open, the thickness is less than 5mm. In terms of dimensions, the body of this smartphone is close to the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. Including thanks to the screen dimensions which have also changed.
On the outside, there is a wider 6.5 inch screen, with a ratio closer to conventional smartphones. Meanwhile, when the fold is opened, there is an 8 inch folding screen which will also be more suitable for multitasking. All of them use a 120Hz AMOLED panel, with a maximum brightness level of 2600 nits.
Another differentiator is the color options, where the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is only available in Black Shadow, there are no other options. The outer body surface also carries a special striped pattern, marking a special edition of Samsung’s best foldable. So what about the camera aspect and performance?
The price of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is certainly more expensive
In the camera section, you could say there are improvements and there are also slight decreases. The reason is, the camera on the inside screen is no longer an Under-Display type, aka just a standard punch-hole with 4MP—it also doesn’t support S Pen input. On the outside, camera aspects other than the main sensor are kept the same; 10MP on the outer screen, 12MP ultra-wide with autofocus, and 10MP with 3x optical zoom capability.
What has been improved is the main sensor, it has a 200MP resolution equivalent to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, although it has not been stated whether it uses the exact same sensor or not. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Galaxy chipset is used again, paired with 16GB RAM which is said to be able to provide Galaxy AI performance as well as the most optimal gaming.
Even though it is designed to be thinner, the battery capacity of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is still 4,400 mAh. So how much does the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition cost? Starting to be ordered in Korea from October 25, the price is 2,789,600 Won, or around IDR 31 million. According to Gizmo friends, is it necessary for this special edition to come to Indonesia?
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition: What’s the Fuss About?
Jakarta, Gizmology – Let’s cut to the chase, shall we? Samsung has lifted the veil on its Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, and it’s about time; I’ve been waiting so long I thought I’d need a folding chair to sit on while I waited. As murmurs turned into blaring sirens of announcements, it appears our friends over at Samsung have come to the party with a few new tricks up their sleeves. This new foldable slot machine, err… I mean smartphone, is debuting in South Korea—good luck trying to get one overseas without having to auction off your left kidney!
The Body is Getting Thinner, the Screen is Getting Bigger
Now, deep breaths, my tension-wielding friends. First off, it’s important to note that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition doesn’t appear to be drastically different from its predecessor. We’re talking about a sleek image that is like a model who lost weight just in time for the runway. Sure, it’s been trimmed down by 1.5mm, which is about as exciting as a diet cola at a pizza-party, but hey, every little bit helps!
Weighing in at just 3 grams less and boasting a thickness of under 5mm when open, this gadget promises to feel as light as your impulse to spend money you don’t have. The rectangular corners and cozy Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection are simply the icing on the design cake. And speaking of sweet icing, have you seen that 8-inch folding screen? It’s a multitasking masterpiece that practically screams, “Look at me!”—and would you look at that 120Hz AMOLED panel, shining brighter than my ex’s future without me!
Now, in terms of color, drumroll, please… it’s Black Shadow! Yes, that’s right, the color palette is as adventurous as my grandma’s bingo night. With only one color to choose from, we’re left feeling as though Samsung is saying, “Choose between one and one; it’s the same difference—just like your social status after buying this.”
The Price of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is Certainly More Expensive
If you’re wondering about the camera—let me slap a disclaimer on this: it’s a bit of give-and-take scenario. The internal camera is no longer hiding underneath the display, and now it’s a straightforward punch-hole affair while being a standard 4MP. It’s like Samsung decided to tease us with a mystery box but revealed it was just a tube of toothpaste and a half-eaten muffin inside!
On the bright side, the main sensor has leveled up and clocks in at a robust 200MP, playing the high-stakes game of Samsung S24 Ultra bingo. But then again, you’re not here for the drama of sensor specs, are you? You want the numbers! The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and 16GB RAM promise to deliver performance that would get even the most aloof gamer swiping right.
And as for the wallet’s impact? Starting from October 25, this beauty will set you back 2,789,600 Won—about IDR 31 million. That’s right, folks! The only thing thicker than the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is its price tag! It might just be easier to fold up some cash and toss it at the screen.
So, the million-dollar question remains: is it necessary for this special edition to come to Indonesia? Well, if you’re aching for the newest and shiniest in your pocket and have a penchant for overpriced gadgets, then perhaps—but let’s be real, getting one will require a few deft moves that could rival a magician’s sleight of hand!
In conclusion, Samsung continues to push the envelope in tech, flipping it back like it’s some fancy origami, and we’re all just watching, wallets at the ready. Or not! So, will you embrace this foldable feat of engineering, or will you fold your arms and scoff? The stage is yours, my friends!
