Royal Bedfellows: Prince William’s Surprising Sleeping Arrangement
Ah, the British Royal Family—steeped in mundanity, tradition, and an apparent penchant for canine companionship! You’d think that when it comes to bedtime at Kensington Palace, it would be a scene of elegance, calm, and, dare I say it, regal decorum. But it turns out that when it comes to snuggling, Prince William and his deserving wife Katalin—sweetly referred to as Kate by the tabloids—have a four-legged family member keeping them warm at night. Yes, folks, step aside royal silk sheets; Orla, their beloved cocker spaniel, is the real MVP!
In a delightful revelation during his visit to Cornwall Duchy College on October 17, our charming Prince William confirmed that Orla is not just an adorable furry friend but also beds down with him and Katalin. Apparently, William was all too eager to share this little nugget, making all of us ponder just how far the cozy royal lifestyle goes. Does this mean when they tuck in for the night, they go full-on Disney and sing a lullaby together as Orla rests her head? Careful, that’s how you make corgi puppies jealous!
A fellow attendee, student Louise Harland, recounted how William expressed genuine curiosity about her dog, Jacks-t, while showering Orla with compliments about her soft ears. Could it be that under all that royal charm lies a man utterly smitten with the canine realm? If only the tabloids could get a sniff of that; round-the-clock headlines could be just a puppy’s paw away.
“He asked what kind of dog it was and had never seen anything like it before!” – Louise Harland
And speaking of their dogs, Orla isn’t just an ordinary pooch; she’s got some royal flair herself! Gifted by Katalin’s younger brother, James Middleton, Orla’s name intriguingly translates to “golden princess” in Celtic. Well, isn’t that fitting for a dog that sleeps in a royal bed? Sorry, Lupo! Although we are still mourning your loss—RIP, good boy—your legacy of paw-fect housemates lives on!
Yet Orla isn’t the only pet causing a royal stir. During a recent visit to Woodgate Valley Urban Farm in Birmingham, Prince William revealed that their three children—Prince George, Princess Sarolta, and Prince Lajos—have a guinea pig named Snowflake. Apparently, not all pets get the royal treatment in the cleaning department. It seems the kids sometimes forget to clean up after Snowflake. Guess who gets to don the royal dungarees on clean-up duty? The Prince! I can see it now—a reenactment of scenes from *The Crown*, only instead of politics, it’s all about pet poop.
In summary, while the Royal Family may be basking in the glamour of royal life, it’s clear that bedtime is less about tiaras and more about tail wags. So, here’s to Prince William and Katalin—the real kings and queens of cozy cuddles. Who would have thought that royal family portraits include a cocker spaniel and the occasional furry cleanup duty? It seems royalty isn’t always about the number of jewels one wears, but about the number of pets one snuggles with!
Prince William revealed which family member he and Katalin most often share their bed with
A family member of Prince William holds a special place in their hearts – and in their beds too!
When Prince William on October 17 he visited cornwalli Duchy College-barevealed that he was a cocker spaniel, Orla he often sleeps in bed with them.
A student Louise Harlandwho brought his dog with him, Jacks-t, a Hello! magazine about the meeting.
“Vilmos said that his puppy sleeps in the bed with them, with him and Katalin”
Harland was quoted as saying in a statement to Hits Radio Cornwall.
“He went all the way for my little dog. He asked what kind it was, and he had never seen anything like it before. My dog is a ‘Cockerjack’ which is a unique mix”
Harland continued. She also revealed that Vilmos remarked how soft the pet’s ears were and stroked them a lot.
Orlát is originally Katalin’s younger brother, James Middleton gifted them after announcing in May 2020 that her dog Luna had given birth to six healthy puppies.
The royal dog made its first public appearance in 2022 in an official birthday portrait taken for Princess Sarolta’s 9th birthday.
Orla’s name carries special royal connections, as it means “golden princess” in the Celtic language.
He joined the family shortly before their previous dog, Lupo, another cocker spaniel, passed away in November 2020. The family remembered him on social media. “Lupo was the heart of our family for nine years and he will be greatly missed” they wrote then.
Although Orla was rarely seen in public, last summer she accompanied Prince William and Catherine to the Royal Charity Polo Cup for a charity event.
However, the cocker spaniel is not the only family pet for the heir to the throne. Prince William this year in Birmingham Woodgate Valley Urban Farm during his visit, he revealed that their three children – Prince George (11), Princess Sarolta (9) and Prince Lajos (6) – also have a guinea pig, which they sometimes forget to dress up.
“Prince William was so happy petting Snowflake the guinea pig at Woodgate Valley Urban Farm that he didn’t want to leave.
She said her kids sometimes forget to clean up after their own guinea pigs, so she has to do it,” she shared. Victoria Ward, a reporter for The Telegraph.
