In an emotional act of gratitude, a young soldier of the Colombian National Army has returned to the Fundación Sagrado Corazón de Jesús José y María in Medellín, the place that welcomed her in her childhood and helped her build her future. Accompanied by her colleagues from the Fourth Brigade, the soldier wanted to express her gratitude for the support she received in difficult times, bringing with her donations of food and hygiene supplies for the young people who currently reside in the foundation.

The soldier, Sandra Zuñiga, originally from the department of Bolívar, shared her story, recounting how she was welcomed by the foundation at the age of 17, when she was in a vulnerable situation. «Sister Nelli was fundamental in my life. Every piece of advice, every word of encouragement, helped me find my way,” she said moved. His testimony resonates strongly, highlighting the impact the foundation had on his personal and professional development.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus Joseph and Mary Foundation is dedicated to offering shelter and support to children and young people in vulnerable situations. Currently, it houses around 90 minors, many of them facing difficult circumstances in their lives.

During the visit, the soldier and her team brought non-perishable food, hygiene supplies and other essential items. «We want to give back a little of what we receive. The help they gave us gave us a new opportunity and we want other young people to have it too,” said the young woman, while participating in recreational activities with the children of the foundation.

The day culminated with a series of activities in which the soldier shared her experience with the young people, inspiring them to persevere and take advantage of the opportunities presented to them.
