The current music festival “Gaida” starts in Vilnius Culture

The world-famous violinist Leila Josefowicz from the USA will perform in Lithuania for the first time. The festival will begin with a concert by her and the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra conducted by the famous German conductor Peter Rundel.

In the opening concert, in addition to the Violin Concerto performed by L. Josefowicz, composed for the soloist by one of the most famous Italian composers of our time, Luca Francesconi, the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra will also perform two of the festival’s “in focus” composers – the famous Lithuanian composer Justė Janulytė, who lives in Milan, and the well-known the works of the German author Enn Poppe.

According to the organizers, the music of these two guest composers will be more widely presented at the festival, and their other works will be heard at various “Gaida” concerts organized by the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, the Cello Club group, the Berlin music collective “ensemble mosaik” and others.

On October 28, a meeting-conversation with these composers will be held at the National Philharmonic.

The festival will also feature the music of Japanese composer and pianist Ryuichi Sakamoto – a concert by the New York group Bang On A Can All-Stars will be held at the National Philharmonic, and a stage musical performance “Rolandas Rastauskas” will be held at the Lithuanian National Drama Theater. Reconciliation”, violin virtuoso Hugo Ticciati (Hugas Tičiatis), others will appear.

The Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, which belongs to the elite of European and world orchestras, will also come to Vilnius. The concert will be conducted by Sylvain Cambreling, one of the most famous conductors of our time.

Awarded the prestigious European festival title “EFFE Laureate” (the only one among all festivals in Lithuania and the Baltic States), the festival “Gaida” will be held until November 6.
