Asunción, IP Agency.- The First National Forum of Rural Women “Contributing to the empowerment of rural women for Sustainable Development” will take place between the 23rd and 25th of this month, in the city of Pilar, department of Ñeembucú.
It is organized jointly by the Ministries of the Environment and Sustainable Development and Women, in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, within the framework of the Paraguay + Green initiative.
The program will begin with two days of workshop in the auditorium of the Municipality of Pilar and will close on the esplanade of the Cabildo de Pilar Historical Museum, with the presence of national authorities, where the IX National Report on the Application of the Law No. 5,446/15, by the Interinstitutional Commission for the Application of the Law “Public Policies for Rural Women”.
The main objective of the Forum is to strengthen the capacities of rural women for their access and use of policy instruments in terms of productive, financial and technological services, in harmony with the environment, education, health, social protection, security food and productive social infrastructure.
It will bring together women leaders from all over the country, seeking to highlight the important role they have in the conservation and preservation of the environment, fundamentally forests, water and biodiversity, and the great contribution they provide to the sustainable development of Paraguay.
Integration of Rural Women’s Network
On the other hand, it seeks to form the Rural Women’s Network, as a national mechanism for monitoring the application of Law No. 5,446/15, in addition to promoting the visibility, empowerment of rural women and recognizing their leadership for the application of the mechanism. REDD+.
The Project is led by Mades and the United Nations Environment Program, as an Accredited Entity before the Green Climate Fund (GCF), and has the participation of the United Nations Environment Program. Development, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, National Forestry Institute; as well as the Ministries of Economy and Finance, Agriculture and Livestock, Women and the Paraguayan Indigenous Institute, as allies in the execution.
Paraguay + Green
Paraguay + Verde arises in recognition of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from land use changes between 2015 and 2017.
The initiative will execute actions of the National Forest Strategy for Sustainable Growth and will operationalize and capitalize the Climate Change Fund.
