Rains caused flooding in the Capital District and areas of Miranda

Users on social networks reported that the rains recorded during the afternoon of Sunday, October 20, caused flooding in areas of the Capital District such as Quinta Crespo, Coche, El Valle, Capitol, Propatria, El Paraíso, Bello Monte, among others.

In the state of Miranda, rainfall was also recorded in different sectors such as Las Mercedes, Prados del Este, as well as the Pan-American Highway, where the rains caused traffic chaos due to flooding on the roads.

People also warned that a landslide occurred at kilometer 2, at the height of the walkway in the direction of San Antonio de los Altos.

Landslides have also occurred in La Guaira, which caused debris to reach the Caracas-La Guaira highway.

In the interior of the country, during the last hours, flooding has also been recorded as a result of the rains. In the Ribero municipality of Sucre state, the flow of the Merey River overflowed, causing damage to nearby homes and the death of a woman.

Residents of several states in Venezuela reported a power outage during Sunday afternoon. Some entities where the incident occurred were: Capital District, Miranda, Carabobo and Aragua.

Precipitation has caused river overflows, flooding and damage in various areas of the country in recent weeks. The authorities have urged the population to remain alert and follow safety recommendations to avoid risks.

In the capital, users on social networks reported rains of varying intensity with strong thunder on October 5 in several areas of the Capital District such as Maripérez, Pinto Salinas, Propatria, El Paraíso, Bello Monte, among other sectors.

While in the state of Miranda, rainfall was recorded in different areas that caused traffic chaos due to flooding on the roads.

There were also reports of flooding on the Intercomunal de Guarenas-Guatire avenue, specifically on the street that connects with the north runway.

Likewise, on October 7, several communities in the states Monagas, Sucre and Nueva Esparta were affected by weather conditions.

The government of Nicolás Maduro maintains an active national plan to reduce risks in the face of the rainy season, which began in the country on May 1 and will end on November 30. The measure includes all contingency protocols for any event, as well as evacuation plans and installation of shelters to deal with emergencies.
