The classified documents, leaked online via the anonymous “Middle East Spectator” Telegram account, are dated October 15 and 16 and addressed to officials in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK, informing them of the Israel’s preparations for the imminent strike against Iran, as well as information regarding Israeli Air Force exercise scenarios.
CNN is not broadcasting the classified documents in their entirety, but notes that inquiries have already begun within the ranks of the US intelligence community to determine how they were leaked – a detail that Israel is not commenting on, at least so far.
Middle East: Israel is ready to move to the next stage of the war, says the Israeli defense minister
Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Galand spoke about the next stage of the war during a Sunday assessment of the situation with the 98th Division on the northern border, the defense ministry said.
During the assessment, Galland and the 98th Division reviewed the IDF’s progress so far, and the Israeli minister assessed that the country is ready to move into the new stage of the war. Israel is “destroying” Lebanese Hezbollah positions “in all the villages along the border” between the two countries, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallad said today.
“We’re essentially moving from a state of defeating the enemy to a state of destruction — blowing up tunnels, blowing up ammunition depots, dismantling Hezbollah,” he said. “Not only right now we are fighting the enemy, but we are destroying them in all the villages along the border, positions that Hezbollah wanted to use as bases for attacks against Israel,” he said.
“We are getting closer and closer to completing the mission, although there is still much to be done. The IDF is preparing for further tasks, but primarily executing this operation properly,” the defense minister added.
