The G7 accuses China of providing dual-use materials to Russia

A statement issued by the meeting of defense ministers of the group’s countries in the Italian city of Naples, yesterday, Saturday, said: “We express our deep concern about the increasing Chinese support for the Russian military economy and call on China to stop supplying dual-use materials, including components and equipment for weapons.”

The statement added that these materials are considered “tangible resources” for the Russian military sector and allow the fighting in Ukraine to continue.

The seven countries also expressed their concern about “destabilizing actions resulting from strengthening military cooperation between China and Russia.”

The G7 accused China of destabilizing the South China Sea, considering that “there is no legal basis for Chinese ambitions in the South China Sea.”

The statement continued: “We categorically reject China’s obstruction of freedom of navigation, the militarization of controversial sites, coercive actions and threats, as well as the dangerous use of coast guard ships and naval military formations in the South China Sea.”

The G7 also condemned Chinese military maneuvers near Taiwan.

China had previously rejected Western accusations against it of providing dual-use materials to Russia, noting that Beijing strictly monitors their export. China denied providing weapons to any party in the conflict in Ukraine.
