We remind you that the immediate intervention of the head of the Athens First Instance Prosecutor’s Office was caused by the incident with the Suburban train that almost entered the Metro tunnel in Dukissis Placentias.
Mr. Aristides Correas ordered an urgent preliminary investigation into the incident that occurred on October 9. The investigation will be undertaken by the First Instance Prosecutor Mr. Andreou, who will establish whether criminal acts have been committed, such as the offense of dangerous interference in the transportation of fixed orbit vehicles and by whom.

We almost mourned victims on the railway, when on October 9, a Suburban train entered a Metro line in Dukissis Placentias. The incident became known from a document of the Panhellenic Union of Traction Personnel (PEPE), and was confirmed on Thursday morning (17/10) by the managing director of OSE, Panagiotis Terezakis.
Hellenic Train issued a statement about the incident with the Suburban train that entered the metro line. As the company states, “it is investigating the causes of the incident, which occurred on Wednesday, October 9, in which a Suburban train violated the entry signs on the METRO line at Dukissis Placentias station.”

According to Mr Terezakis, who spoke to Real FM, “the wrong order was given by the station master”, who he said he has already ordered removed for retraining.
As he said, “probably at that time the Metro should have entered, but due to the delay, the Suburban went ahead without the remote controller changing the route. This happened 500 meters before the tunnel started.”
According to Mr. Terezakis, “the train driver violated two traffic lights, which showed him that he was entering a subway line, and he did not stop and is being checked for this.”
“The mistake was made by the station master as he made a marking that instead of the suburban train, sent the train to the subway. From the findings of the retraining we will see where and if it will continue.”
As for whether the remote control caught the mistake of the station master, Mr. Terezakis answered “the remote control showed the signals but it did not realize the mistake of the station master because he drew a correct route, i.e. he did not send the train on a line of opposite direction”.
