The two vice-mayors who were caught in the hands of the Municipal Council resigned VIDEO

The two deputy mayors, for Rural and Regional Development, Dimitris Michtsoglou and for Daily Management and Civil Protection, Giorgos Kadis, in Serres resigned this morning following the incident that took place in the corridors of the town hall during the council meeting, with the two men holding hands and exchanging vulgar insults.

“Yesterday’s unacceptable incident of public dispute between two vice-mayors does not in any way represent the ethos and value attitude of the current municipal authority. It does not represent either the character and morals of the two involved, but also their long-term career in the community and their daily contribution to the work of the Municipality of Serres, which by common confession is very positive”, says the mayor, Varvara Mitliaga, in the announcement of her, noting that they themselves realized it and apologizing to the Serrai people, they immediately submitted their resignations from the positions of responsibility of deputy mayors they hold, which he accepted.

As reported by ERT the mayor makes it clear that she is not going to allow similar incidents to occur in the future and asks for “a sincere apology from Serrai and the people of Serrai for this unacceptable incident”.

“No one has the right to tarnish the image of the Municipality and to blur the work that the Municipal Authority carries out with so much effort and hard struggle. We learn, we correct, we move on. And we never stop working for the good of the place alone”, he says characteristically.
