Surya Paloh: NasDem was offered by the Minister, but didn’t want to be pragmatic”/>
Chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, said that his party did not take ministerial seats in the Prabowo-Gibran government cabinet because it did not want to be pragmatic in the interests of political education in the life of the nation and state.
“Repeatedly, NasDem wants to prioritize the politics of ideas rather than pragmatism so that it can provide something meaningful for the educational process itself,” said Surya Paloh when met at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, today.
Surya Paloh admitted that the NasDem Party received an offer of a ministerial seat from President Prabowo Subianto, but his party did not take up the offer.
“There is momentum, there is a ministerial seat offered by Pak Prabowo and Pak Prabowo states, ‘Please Bung Surya explain to friends in the press and the public that I have reserved a cabinet seat for NasDem.’ “However, NasDem refused,” explained Paloh.
According to Paloh, times like this are the best momentum that the NasDem Party must take advantage of to provide lessons to the public about morals and the political education process, namely politics without dowry.
Public perception of political institutions so far has been nothing more than the pursuit of power without any room for consistent idealism and honesty. That is what the NasDem Party wants to deny.
“I think this may be the first in the process of national life that the political parties of this country go through. But, no matter how small, this is a contribution that I hope can open the eyes of the heart. At least, NasDem is there to start it. Hopefully NasDem can “remain consistent like this, politics without dowry,” he said.

A number of politicians in Prabowo’s coalition, such as the General Chair of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono and the Daily Chair of the Gerindra Party DPP, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, when met before the inauguration event, said that Prabowo would announce the composition of the cabinet on Sunday evening.
